Randy Santiago BiographyRandy Gerard Legaspi Santiago is the real name of Randy Santiago, a Filipino actor and singer, host, composer, entrepreneur, director and producer. He was born on November 26, 1960 and his father is the late and equally famous Pablo Santiago Jr. He earned his degree at De La Salle University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts. A love of music and with a God given talent in singing, he joined Kundirana when he began his high school and became a member of the Cicada Band in 1980’s. This talent started his singing career and he began to sing in different bars and lounges and later brought him to travel in Asian countries such as Singapore and Malaysia. At home, he was a big brother to Rowell and Raymart Santiago.
Eventually, he met his wife, Marilou Coronel who bore him three children, Raphael, Ryan, and Raiko. Randy as an actor had appeared in several movies such as “Paikot-ikot” in 1990, “Pera O Bayong” in 2000, and “Taray and Teroy” 1988. His other successful movies were “Ang Syota Kong Balikbayan,” “Wanted: perfect Mother,” “Tiny Terrestrial: The Three Professors,” and “No Retreat, No Surrender.”He had also tried his skills as a producer in his film “JR” which was shown in 1983 and “Daniel Bartolo ng Sapang Bato” which was released in 1982.
Since Randy Santiago’s first love is singing, he went solo with his first blockbuster single “Hindi Magbabago” which conquered the airwaves for quite a long time. Other songs to his name are “Pobreng Manliligaw” “Tabi Tayo,” “True Love,” “Basta’t Ika’y Maging Akin,””Huwag kang Paloloko,” “Senorita,” “Ikaw lamang,” “Wala Ng Iba,” “Laman ng Kalsada,” “Curtain of Your Heart,” and “I’ll Sing to You.”
As a TV host, he displayed remarkable performance on the following TV programs such as “Lunchdate,” “SST: Salo Salo Together; “Magandang Tanghali Bayan,” with Willie Revillame and John Estrada, and “Happy, Yipee, Yehey.” Just recently, he is now co-hosting with Willie Revillame’s “Wowowillie” in TV 5.
He had also appeared in other TV variety shows, talent and singing shows either as a judge or a guest in “Star Circle Quest,” “Little Big Superstar,” “Showtime”, “Are You The Next Big Star,” “Talentadong Pinoy.” He was also visible in “Lorenzo’s Time,””Wansapanataym,” “To Da Max,” “Pepito Manaloto,” “Show me The Manny’” “Maynila,” “Wag kang Kukurap” and “O-Ha,” of TV5.
Aside from being busy in his showbiz career, he is also attending to his business and finds time managing “Ratsky,” a restobar which he established some years back. Randy is also popularly known as Mr. Shades, Ratsky, Kirat and Private Eyes because he has never shown his eyes in public. He hides them behind different style of sunglasses, that he can be a model of eye wear already.
Randy Santiago is considered successful in his own rights, because he came from a talented family. But he still has that same humility when he was just starting in the showbiz entertainment. He's a jolly, comic man yet serious and dedicated to his career and family.
