Her parents are Martin Schnittka, a German and Gemma Hautea a Filipino who was disabled due to a hearing impairment. Her father left them when she was still a baby and was raised by her deaf mother and grandmother. She is a talented Filipina actress and commercial model having a German and Filipino descent. When she was just starting in showbiz she was a cast member of the kid’s show Goin’ Bulilit before she appeared in the drama series Mara Clara.
Julia Montes was discovered because of her appearances in TV commercials. At the start of her career she signed up with GMA 7 where she appeared in shows like Sana Ikaw Na Nga and Magpakailanman. Her contract with GMA 7 was not exclusive thus giving her the opportunity to audition for a show in ABS-CBN. After auditioning for Hiram she was accepted. Again, she also appeared in the Teleserye Walang Hanggan which is held to be among the most watched Teleserye in Philippine television history. She has been an endorser of popular products and companies like Bench, Boardwalk, Rejoice Shampoo, Dental Arts, Skechers and many more. She is considered as one of the most promising actresses of her time.
