This Chinese-Filipino teenage actress has won the heart of the masses throughout the 42 days of their in-house stay to Big Brother’s house. She finally went center stage in the limelight on June 3, 2006 when she was declared as the Teen Big Brother winner at the Aliw Theater at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
Her friendly and carefree attitude made her well-liked by her fellow housemates. This is perhaps the reason why she was never nominated for eviction from the Big Brother house. She likes to laugh and makes the people around her happy with her good sense of humor and sportsmanship. Her go-getter attitude made her pursue the crown for the reality TV show because of her dedication to complete tasks and challenges hurdled against the housemates.
Kim has a Chinese, more particularly Hokkien descent. She was born on April 19, 1990 in Cebu City. When she bagged the crown as the winner for the Teen Big Brother, she signed a contract to become an ABS-CBN’s Star Magic talent. She also ventured to have a singing career through her album “Gwa Ai Di.” Winning in the reality TV show of Pinoy Big Brother Teen edition gave her more opportunities to start her own career in acting. She was teamed up with Gerald Anderson as her on-screen partner. Anderson was also one of the participants in the said reality show. They were groomed as love team in their first movie together First Day High. Both stars also appeared in many television and talk shows under the ABS CBN network.
Kim also appeared in many movies like Love Spell, Aalog-alog and I’ve Fallen for You. She also made a lot of television soap operas and TV series such as My Girl, Sana Maulit Muli, and Tayong Dalawa where she won several awards. Other movies that Kim starred include Ina, Kapatid, Anak, The Healing and 24/7 in Love where she was reunited with Gerald Anderson again.
Kim bagged several awards like Best Breakthrough Performance, Most Promising Female Star, Best Movie Actress, Pop TV Character of the Year, Best New Female TV Personality all awards given in 2007. She also received other recognition awards like Most Admired TV Personality by the Anak TV Seals Award, Best Actress for her horror film Shake, Rattle and Roll X that was awarded to her on the 34th Metro Manila Film Festival in 2008. Kim continues to receive more awards the succeeding years making her one of the most highly recognized talented young actress in the Philippines.
