Derek Ramsay BiographyDerek Ramsay whose full name is Derek Arthur Ramsay, born on December 7, 1976 in England. He is a professional actor, model, host and VJ who has been active in the Philippine showbiz industry since 2005 to present. Derek's father is a British who was a detective inspector in London's Metropolitan Police when the latter met his mom who was the head of housekeeping in Cadogan Hotel, England. Their family settled in the Philippines and started a now successful security agency. The prosperity of the business led his father to become a prominent member of the Manila British business community and had been active being the former president of the Manila Club. Derek returned to England at age 18 to pursue his studies in Electrical Engineering.
Derek Ramsay began his career in showbiz as a co-host in an entertainment magazine talk show, Entertainment Konek, a VJ for MTV Philippines and a host to U Can Dance, a celebrity dance show for two seasons. He took part in as Kahimu in Panday and Machete in Super Inggo for supporting roles and eventually got his first lead roles in Ysabella as chef Mito Valenzuela. Derek has been known for his masculine built that made him a good candidate for many commercial endorsements. Derek is not only busy with his career in show business but also busy as an entrepreneur.
Among the TV shows he has appeared in are Your Song, Maalaala Mo Kaya, Maging Sino Ka Man: Ang Pagbabalik, Komiks, The Wedding, Precious Hearts Romances Presents, Habang May Buhay, Magkaribal, The Biggest Loser, The Amazing Race Philippines and the latest Kidlat. In 2010, He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Gawad PASADO for the film I Love You, Goodbye.
After successful TV and movie appearances with ABS-CBN from which his contract has ended in 2012, Derek Ramsey signed and took part to become TV5’s personalities. He first hosted The Amazing Race Philippines, a reality program that was based on The Amazing Race. The program has run from October 29, 2012 to December 15, 2012. At present, he plays the lead role for Kidlat, a TV series at TV5. Derek Ramsay plays a Filipino Superhero and teamed with Ritz Azul. The TV show is rated well in Philippine television with commercials packed running between 15 to 20 spots.
