Kim Chiu, Maja Salvador Snub Each Other At A PartyThe teleserye ‘Ina Kapatid Anak’ has already ended but its main stars Kim Chiu and Maja Salvador have yet to end their own rift. This is in contrast to the happy ending of the TV series, which consistently lorded over the TV ratings game in its entire run.
Last Friday (June 14), while the last episode of the TV show was being aired, a thanksgiving party was held somewhere in Quezon City. ABS-CBN organized the event to commemorate the success of the eight-month duration of the series.
In a special report aired last Sunday (June 16) at ‘The Buzz,’ a video footage was shown to give the highlights of the party. In a scene recorded in the event, the two actresses were seen snubbing each other. They were obviously avoiding each other in the venue.
This is in contrast with speculations that Chiu and Salvador have already reconciled. In fact, that was how ABS-CBN wanted the viewers to think. The two were given several production numbers together in the Sunday noontime variety show ‘ASAP 18,’ for a couple of weeks to promote the TV series’ finale.
For the show
Aside from the production numbers, the two also did several TV interviews together. In ‘The Buzz’ episode aired before the final week of ‘Ina Kapatid Anak,’ the two actresses were covered together live in a mall show in Taguig City. They were joined by leading men Xian Lim and Enchong Dee.
Observers noted that Chiu and Salvador have always remained distant from each other. The animosity showed in their action and gestures toward one another. Even if they were forced to stand side by side, one can easily observe that they were avoiding each other.
The ongoing rift between them started in January, during the first few weeks of airing of their primetime series. That time, Chiu expressed how she regrets ending her friendship with Salvador. That was prompted by reports that Salvador was dating Gerald Anderson, Chiu’s ex-boyfriend. Chiu and Anderson broke up more than 2 years ago.
In an interview, Chiu was quoted as saying that she resents wasting a friendship. She recalled how Salvador used to say bad things about Anderson, especially after their (Chiu and Anderson) breakup. Just a few weeks ago, Salvador admitted that she really ‘swallowed’ her own words because she did not know Anderson 2 years ago, when she was saying a lot of bad things about him.
Salvador hopes that she could rekindle her friendship with Chiu someday. She has hinted that she is giving up on the idea for now. Chiu, for her part, seems to remain firm on her stance to end her friendship with her erstwhile best friend.
‘Ina Kapatid Anak’ benefited from the controversy brought about by Chiu and Salvador’s feud. Fortunately, the characters of the two actresses were always fighting for several months. But a few weeks before the show’s finale, the two characters reconciled.
