Charice Pempengco-Alyssa Quijano Affair Surprises "X Factor Philippines" Grand Winner KZ TandinganKZ Tandingan, who was mentored by international singer Charice Pempengco on "X Factor Philippines," was surprised by the love affair between her mentor and Alyssa Quijano, a finalist of the said show.
Quijano was part of AKA Jam, who was also a finalist under Gary Valenciano's group of contestants. The group, however, was one of the first contestants to be eliminated.
During the show's run, Tandingan said she saw Pempengco and Quijano spoke to each other. But they never gave another meaning to that because mentors are not prohibited to speak with contestants from the other group. Tandingan said she usually sees Quijano during gigs, but they never spoke about the said affair.
Besides, she doesn't want to judge Pempengco and Quijano, who only went after their hearts' desire. Tandingan said she is only human, so she was equally shocked when she learned about their affair.
But then again, if Pempengco and Quijano were happy to be together, who are the people to judge them, Tandingan asked.
When it comes to Pempengco, Tandingan said she is very happy to be under her during the show because the international singer helped her a lot in her career. She also said that they kept in touch even after the show ended.
The other mentors aside from Pempengco and Valenciano were Pilita Corales and Martin Nievera.
She was also asked if she noticed how Pempengco acts during the run of the show. Tandingan said she herself is also not girly-girly, so she is not one to judge Pempengco. Some also noticed Tandingan acts more like a lesbian than a lady. The singer understands where people are coming from.
Tandingan denied these rumors. “I have nothing naman against sa mga tomboy, pero ako sa sarili ko, hindi po ako ganyan.”
"Ako kasi, lumaki ako na parang kung ano ang ginagawa o kilos ng tatay ko ay parang nagagaya ko. Pero hindi naman ibig sabihin na kapag hindi ka girlie ay ano ka, di ba?"
She can also appreciate a girl's good looks, but the singer clarified she was never attracted to the point of wanting to have a relationship with that person.
"Girl po ako, girl na girl!"
Regarding the other singing talent shows in ABS-CBN, Tandingan couldn't help think that the competition will get tougher. However, she doesn't think of that negatively. In fact, Tandingan said it's a positive thing that a lot of Filipino singers are being discovered.
She has other friends who were eliminated in "X Factor Philippines" who are now with "The Voice of the Philippines." The show is being hosted by Toni Gonzaga with mentors-judges Lea Salonga, Apl de Ap, Bamboo Manalac and Sarah Geronimo.
Tandingan said she looks at these shows as a challenge to be better. "Kaya habang may nadadagdag na baguhang singers, tini-take ko yun as a challenge, na kailangan huwag akong magpabaya."
