"Sisterakas" Is Still Highest-Grossing Filipino Film For Director Wenn DeramasDirector Wenn Deramas said "Sisterakas" is still the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time despite reports saying that "It Takes A Man And A Woman" has already surpassed the P400-million mark.
Deramas said Star Cinema and Viva Films, which co-produced both movies, clarified to him that "It Takes A Man And A Woman" garnered only P383 million as compared with "Sisterakas'" P397 million.
"Sisterakas" was directed by Deramas while "It Takes A Man And A Woman" was directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina. "Sisterakas" starred Kris Aquino, Vice Ganda and Ai-Ai Delas Alas while "It Takes A Man And A Woman" saw the third team-up of Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz.
But for Deramas, it doesn't matter if "It Takes A Man And A Woman" will surpass "Sisterakas" in the box-office. He respects Garcia-Molina as a director, and admitted the director's projects have always grossed well.
The director is just thankful that his film was able to be at the top spot even for just a while.
Meanwhile, Deramas is excited to start filming for his entry to the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival. Entitled "Boy Girl Bakla Tomboy," the film will star Vice Ganda and Diamond Star Maricel Soriano.
He feels lucky for being able to participate in the festival for the past four years. He previously directed "Tanging Ina 2," "Tanging Ina 3" and "Sisterakas."
Deramas also revealed how proud he was of Zanjoe Marudo for the success of "Bromance," which he also directed. One of their main objectives was to showcase Marudo's acting skills. And Deramas wasn't mistaken when they trusted Marudo with the movie.
To be sure that his follow-up movie will be a huge success as well, the director already promised Star Cinema that he will be the one to direct Marudo again. He is proud of the actor for being a good comedian, almost in the ranks of Luis Manzano, Billy Crawford and Vhong Navarro.
It would be a long time, of course, before the industry will see another Dolphy or Vic Sotto, he said.
For now, Deramas is busy filming for "Galema," which will star Andi Eigenmann, Sunshine Cruz, Sheryl Cruz, Divina Valencia, Lito Legaspi and Matteo Guidicelli.
The director also confirmed there are talks for him to direct Claudine Barretto's upcoming movie with Star Cinema and Viva Films.
The actress has been quiet for some time because of alleged family problems.
