Jessy Mendiola Admits To Being Hurt When Blamed For JM De Guzman's Apparent DownfallJessy Mendiola said she is hurt by accusations that she's the one to blame for ex-boyfriend JM de Guzman's downfall.
De Guzman has stopped appearing in television shows and movies, except for an entry to the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival.
The Kapamilya actress revealed she feels hurt every time people would accuse her of breaking de Guzman's heart so much he doesn't want to work anymore. Reports also said the actor is now into drugs.
Mendiola recently admitted her two-year relationship with de Guzman. She didn't reveal to the public their relationship because it wouldn't help their situation back then.
She denied being embarrassed by the actor, and said they go out in public places and even held ones when they were just starting out. She described their relationship as "intense."
However, the actress had to break up with de Guzman because the relationship wasn’t doing her any good. She said that not only is her mother disapproving of their relationship, but she also noticed how she's not taking care of herself that much.
Mendiola also said she was slowly losing focus in her career. She denied breaking up with de Guzman solely because of her mother's disapproval.
When it comes to the actor, Mendiola said she tried to help him get away from vices. She took care of him, and was also brokenhearted when they had to part ways. She also though it sweet that de Guzman announced in national television how deeply he feels for her.
She tried helping her ex-boyfriend, Mendiola said. However, "hindi niya matulungan ang sarili niya. Kailangan niyang matulungan ang sarili niya bago siya matulungan ng iba."
When they broke up, they both decided to still remain friends, Mendiola said. The actress hopes for the best for her ex-boyfriend. "Sana maibalik niya yung dating napakabait, napakagaling at napakahusay na actor."
The actress was also linked to her "Paraiso" co-star Matteo Guidicelli. She admitted they aren't as close now as they were before, especially during the time when the actor introduced her to his family in Cebu.
He even toured her around his family-owned private resort in the province. Mendiola, however, was thinking back then if Guidicelli only has a crush on her and would not be pursuing her.
True enough, they suddenly stopped communicating as frequently as before. She remembered Guidicelli would always say they should take things slow. Mendiola agreed, and that was why they decided to just focus on their careers first.
She said it is only now that both of them are getting good projects, so it is important that they remain focus on their goals. But asked for a message for the actor, she said "Okay lang, okay lang umibig."
Mendiola's father is half-British and half-Syrian who is working in Dubai. When she was three years old, they decided to come home to the Philippines with her Filipina mother. Her father though, remained in Dubai to be with his family.
And although his father would always promise her he will go back to them, he never fulfilled that promise. Mendiola last saw him when she was still little.
However, she clarified she's not angry at her father. Instead, he will always be welcome in Mendiola's home.
