JM De Guzman Reportedly Enters A Drug Rehab Center In Tagaytay CityIf reports would be confirmed as true, it can be asserted that ABS-CBN young actor JM de Guzman is finally on the road to recovery. The latest speculation is that he was allegedly admitted into a drug rehabilitation center somewhere in Tagaytay City recently. That is in line with rumors that he is battling problems brought about by substance abuse.
For many months now, the rumor that he has become addicted to prohibited drugs has been persistent. That has been fueled by the fact that he is completely not visible in showbiz these days. He has launched his own album several months ago but he was not able to promote any of his songs.
It did not help that he has been tagged as being an unprofessional actor lately. According to reports from TV5 insiders, the network signed the actor for a short but important role in one of their expensive TV series. All was set until on the day of the taping, de Guzman did not show up. He even did not give any advice about whether he would be able to report to his commitment or not.
The unprofessional behavior could have cost millions of losses to the production. Fortunately, the producers were able to convince another actor Johan Santos to take the role that was originally intended for de Guzman. That incident somehow confirmed speculations that the actor is in trouble these days.
It can be recalled that rumors about his alleged substance abuse started when he was taping for his latest ABS-CBN afternoon TV soap ‘Angelito: Batang Ama.’ According to reports, the production crew of the show repeatedly complained to the management about de Guzman’s unprofessional behavior. He was reportedly coming to the set unprepared or drunk. He would even not show at the taping at all in some days, causing stress to everyone in the set.
The management reportedly called de Guzman’s attention to reprimand and warn him. When de Guzman allegedly failed to clean up his act, the network decided to end the TV show much sooner than intended. That explains the sudden demise of his afternoon show. Since then, he was not given any TV assignment by the network.
His father, National Press Club board director Roniel de Guzman, is assuring the showbiz press that his son is taking some rest to ‘recover.’ According to Mr. de Guzman, his son is currently taking a vacation in Australia, where he is temporarily staying with his older sister. He announced that his son would not take any showbiz commitment for the next several months. Is he in Tagaytay or in Australia?
Many observers think that de Guzman started getting hooked into prohibited drugs after encountering depression. Some insiders claim that he got depressed when ex-girlfriend Jessy Mendiola dumped her for Matteo Guidicelli. Recently, Mendiola expressed disappointment that she is being blamed for what happened to de Guzman’s personal life and career.
