Sharon Cuneta Swears That She Never Asked ABS-CBN Bosses To Take Her BackMany speculations emerged when Sharon Cuneta went to a seven-month hiatus in show business. There were reports that she felt bad when TV5 abruptly axed her talkshow ‘Sharon: Kasama Mo Kapatid.’ The show was reportedly cancelled due to poor ratings and because Delta Theater, where it had been taping, was renovated for Willie Revillame’s show ‘Wowowillie.’
It was also reported that TV5 was offended when it heard that Cuneta allegedly talked to ABS-CBN bigwigs for them to take her back. According to reports, Cuneta felt depressed and sorry about her decision to move to the struggling network. She was reportedly reprimanded for doing so, leading to disagreements with some TV5 executives, who are mostly out of the network now after a recent restructure.
Touching base with ABS-CBN
Was it true that she talked to ABS-CBN CEO Gabby Lopez and President Charo Santos-Concio to ask them to pave the way for her return? Showbiz reporters did not let the opportunity pass to ask this question. In a recent press conference, Cuneta confirmed that she talked to those executives.
But Cuneta revealed that she talked to Lopez before she signed her TV5 contract to let him know about her decision. That was the last time they conversed with each other. However, Cuneta said she maintains her friendship with Santos-Concio and ABS-CBN channel head Cory Vidanes.
Cuneta disclosed that she still talks with them every once in a while. But she insisted that they have not discussed about their current work. She emphasized that she has never talked to the two executives about her current status with TV5.
Not a liar
Thus, she swears that if news came out about supposed feelers for her return, it was not her. Cuneta asserted that anyone could confirm it with all those ABS-CBN executives. She insisted that whoever is claiming that all those talks about her return to the network happened is truly lying.
Cuneta thinks that all of them are professionals and decent not to let work-related issues get into their friendship. She still talks and texts them whenever she has time to touch base with old friends.
As for her TV5 assignment, Cuneta meaningfully disclosed that her latest projects are coursed through Wilma Galvante, the former GMA-7 executive who is reportedly the new entertainment head of TV5 now. To some people, this may be a confirmation of two things: first, Perci Intalan was ousted as entertainment head of TV5; second, Cuneta had a misunderstanding with former TV5 executives.
By the end of the interview, Cuneta repeatedly declared that she deals with no one else within TV5 but Galvante. In jest, she reminded her interviewers that she does not mean anything with that revelation. The megastar disclosed that she would end her TV5 contract after the specified time frame in the agreement. Lastly, she revealed that she has an interesting lineup of shows in the network.
