Claudine Barretto Files Temporary Protection Order Against Estranged Husband Raymart SantiagoClaudine Barretto reportedly filed for a temporary restraining order against estranged husband Raymart Santiago before the Marikina Regional Trial Court.
The petition was filed today, July 29. It effectively stops Santiago from going near Barretto and their children, Sabina and Santino. When they filed the petition, the actress was obviously distraught, reports said.
According to Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, the details and the reasons behind the temporary protection order are confidential. Since 2005, Barretto wanted to file a protection order against her husband, but didn't do so because she was sacrificing for her family.
Topacio said his client tried to make the marriage work, and not to result to filing cases and petitions against Santiago. But this time, Barretto couldn't take the things her husband has been doing.
Apparently, filing petitions and cases against her husband is the only way Barretto sees to stop Santiago from what he is doing to her and their children.
"She has been under intense and tremendous emotional stress mula pa noong Sabado na ipinatawag niya ako.”
Barretto, who has been rumored to be suffering from psychological problems, is said to have broken down during her time inside the court. Topacio said they are hoping the court will grant their request for a protection order against Santiago.
The TPO said that Santiago also had guns, although it didn't say if he used it to threaten Barretto and their children. The actress said she just wants to be protected from Santiago, and she wants her children to feel safe as well.
Barretto, who earlier said she had upcoming movies with Star Cinema (but which the ABS-CBN movie production arm denied), is asking for prayers for her family.
Santiago has yet to answer to the allegations.
