Raymart Santiago's Statements Regarding Estranged Wife Claudine Barretto Are "Very Funny"Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, counsel of actress Claudine Barretto, described Raymart Santiago's statements regarding his client's ability to make up stories as "very funny."
“We find that statement to be very funny, coming from a man whose very foundations for his enticements for Ms. Barretto to enter into marriage with him are based on stories concocted by him, and bolstered by layer upon layer of more untruths as we shall prove in a separate case. The deceptions by Mr. Santiago may even constitute criminal offenses."
He said the allegations that pushed Barretto to seek a temporary protection order against Santiago are all based on solid evidence "of all kinds and nature." Topacio added the actor must face all allegations in court, so the two camps can determine who was telling the truth.
Santiago on Tuesday answered the allegations of physical abuse hurled against him by the actress. He defended that he wasn't capable of hurting anybody, especially the mother of his children--adoptive daughter Sabina and biological son Santino.
The actor alleged that Barretto has the capacity to make up stories against other people. The actress has reportedly been battling psychological issues with her parents refusing to bring her for treatment despite orders from the doctor. Santiago left their marital home in the midst of the actress' rift with sisters, Marjorie and Gretchen.
Barretto filed for a temporary protection against her estranged husband on Monday, saying she was physically abused when they were still together. She also showed bruises on her arms and other parts of her body. It can be remembered that during Sabina’s birthday earlier this year, the actress was photographed with a bruise on her cheek.
Topacio said the actress was emotional during the proceedings in the court. He also said she will reveal the details of the case in due time.
Santiago’s brother, Randy, came to Raymart’s defense. He said his younger brother was not capable of hurting his estranged wife.
