Kris Bernal Returns To Primetime Drama Through "Prinsesa Ng Masa"Kris Bernal will once again be seen in GMA-7's primetime drama as she is set to star in "Prinsesa Ng Masa." An agreement has already been signed between GMA-7 President and CEO Atty. Felipe Gozon and Avon Philippines President Bob Briddon.
The last teleserye Bernal made for GMA was "Coffee Prince" back in November 2012. Since then, she wasn't seen that much on television except in some noontime shows. Bernal admitted she was nervous that her showbiz career might be declining.
But at the same time, she was also quite happy she was able to spend time with her family for about a month in Europe. They visited many cities there, she added.
"Prinsesa ng Masa" will premiere on September 23. Bernal will also be endorsing Avon Philippines.
When Bernal came back to the Philippines after her Europe tour, she guested for a month in "Maynila" and was part of "Sunday All Stars." Lately, she was also with Aljur Abrenica in Montreal, Canada to attend the Pista Sa Nayon 2013. Bernal said she was able to spend time with some kababayans there.
On her past teleseryes--"Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin?," "All My Life," "Koreana," "Time Of My Life" and "Hiram Na Puso"--Bernal was able to show her versatility in acting. All these teleseryes also rated very well.
In "Prinsesa Ng Masa," she will be paired once again with Abrenica. She said the teleserye is very similar to the things she has to go through after she won in "Starstruck" back in 2006.
"Maraming pagdadaanan ang character ko dito sa Prinsesa Ng Masa kaya may mga iyakan ito. Pero may mga kilig moments din kasi kami ulit ni Aljur ang magtatambal."
Bernal wants the story to be an inspiration to a lot of people who get scared of pursuing their dreams. The cast for the teleserye has not been completed yet, although reports said Heart Evangelista will play the contrabida.
Meanwhile, Bernal felt sad that her indie film did not push through because she had to do the teleserye for GMA-7. She was supposed to star in "Isang Tag-Araw Sa Buhay Ni Twinkle Payawan," but she pulled out at the last minute. The actress, who was used to nice girl roles, even said she was ready to go daring for the indie film.
"Gusto ko naman talaga siyang gawin. Iba kasi ang role at gusto kong subukan naman ang mga ganung klaseng pelikula. Twenty-four years old na ako. Siguro naman ready na ako para sa mga ganung roles."
But since she has a new teleserye and she will be Avon's new endorser, it is highly important that her "wholesome image" be maintained. "Sa totoo lang, nanghinayang ako dun sa indie movie. Chance ko na kasi iyon na maipakita na nag-mature na ako bilang isang artista."
GMA Artist Center was the one who asked her to pull out of doing the indie film, she said. Bernal, however, is not losing hope that a role like that will be offered to her again in the future.
