Marian Rivera Still A Kapuso, Signs New Contract With GMA NetworkMarian Rivera has put an end to endless rumors that she may be signing with a different network soon as the actress renewed her contract with the Kapuso Network.
The signing of Rivera’s new contract with GMA Network was held at the Manila Golf and Country Club in Makati two days before her birthday on August 12.
Present at the event were Rivera, her manager Rams David, GMA Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe Gozon, President and COO Gilberto Duavit, Jr., EVP and CFO Felipe Yalong, GMA Films President Atty. Annette Gozon-Abrogar, and Entertainment TV Group OIC Lilybeth Rasonable.
The actress, now considered the primetime queen of GMA 7, said that she is aware that GMA will present new projects for her this week.
When asked by PEP if she thought about signing anew with the Kapuso Network, Rivera said frankly that she did. However, this does not mean that the actress had big reservations against signing a new contract with GMA.
She said that everything should be thought out but to say that she thought really hard whether to sign with GMA or not is not the case.
“Well, to be honest, lahat naman ng bagay, pinag-iisipan. Kapuso ako at dito nagsimula ang lahat, which is Marimar, at GMA ang nagbigay sa akin noon,” she said.
As for offers from other networks, the actress was also quick to answer that she did get some offers.
“Well, hindi ko naman itatanggi, meron po,” she said.
She added, however, that she had no reason to leave GMA.
Ramdam ko yun,” she said.
Asked about her plans now that she has a new three-year contract with GMA, the actress said that she wants to do a lot.
She did not dive into specifics though bringing the discussion back to the planning session she will be attending this week.
However, the actress did acknowledge that she wants to do a soap opera this year saying, “Kailangan this year ‘yan…Malamang this year at sana po.”
Meanwhile, Atty. Felipe Gozon also did not delve into specifics but just mentioned that the Kapuso Network had great plans for Rivera, PEP says.
The executive also remarked that Rivera is the true “queen” of GMA and supporting this is the fact that the top execs of the network attended her contract signing which, Gozon notes, was not conducted inside the GMA boardroom but at a special event.
Asked for her comment on the “queen” remark, Rivera joked it was “favoritism” and then proceeded to say that she is really happy that the network’s top execs were present as she did not expect them to come.
