Regine Renews Contract With GMA-7No, Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez won't be following the footsteps of her husband Ogie Alcasid, who recently transferred to TV5.
Velasquez said she will be signing another two-year contract with the Kapuso network. The only reason she wasn't able to say in recent months that she will be staying was because there were other details of the contract they have to tresh out.
The singer said people were just assuming that she'll also transfer to TV5 just because her husband is there already. She added that back then, she was still under contract with GMA-7 and that was why she could not clarify the speculations. There was also no point in her career that she thought about moving out since she's on "automatic" contract with the Kapuso network.
In fact, a two-year contract will soon be signed between the two camps. They were merely renegotiating for some details that could be changed. There is nothing major that will be adjusted though, the singer said.
Since she has to take care of her baby, some things would just have to be changed with regards to her schedule, Velasquez said.
The singer clarified she was never irritated at her bashers on social networking site Twitter. She said she was just annoyed that some of them are thinking ahead of themselves.
"Hindi naman ako naiirita. Pero ayaw ko lang na I’m being told what to do. And I don’t like that. And I guess no one likes that."
"Actually, I’m very touched sa concern nila but, at the same time, I just don’t like it na yung tono nila, ang bobo-bobo ko? Yung parang hindi ko alam kung ano ang gagawin sa career ko.”
Meanwhile, Velasquez said she can guests on the shows that will be handled by her husband on TV5. She added that GMA-7 allows her to guest on other networks as long as she asks permission.
There's no problem with the singer that they are now in different networks. She added that they are only together in one show, "Sunday All Stars," in GMA-7 anyway. It wouldn't make any difference in their relationship that they are now working separately. Velasquez explained that she was absent on "Sunday All Stars" for a while because it just felt weird for Alcasid not to be there.
She will be back on the Sunday noontime show at least once a month to have time with her family. Nate, her son, is growing so fast, and that's why she doesn't want to miss any of his growing years.
Under her new contract, Velasquez might also do a teleserye and a concert next year.
