Lauren Young Decides To Ignore BashersLauren Young is doing an effective way of playing her contrabida role in GMA-7's "Mundo Mo'y Akin" that there is now a whole group of fans dedicated to just hating her. But the actress, a former Kapamilya artist, said she doesn't mind bashers and critics and instead just focuses on her work.
If she is going to focus on those who hates her and her character, then she wouldn't be enjoying herself and her work. Young plays Darlene in the soap, the contrabida to the loveteam of Louise Delos Reyes and Alden Richards.
When Young works, she usually does it for herself, her fans, her family and her friends. Through this philosophy, she is able to give 100 percent to her work, the actress said.
"So, magpo-focus na lang ako sa mga taong gustong manood sa akin at sumubaybay sa akin kesa sa iiyak na lang ako forever."
Her world, she said, does not revolve around those who hate her. If she's going to focus on these things, then nothing will happen in her life and in her career. Also, she doesn't want to always look behind her for fear that people may hate her. She won't be an effective actress if that is the way she will think.
"I have my own life. I have my own career to think about and I can’t sacrifice my career for the benefit of the people who don’t even like me. That’s not fair naman."
Her sister, Megan Young, has recently joined the Miss World Philippines pageant that will be held on August 18. The actress said she is very happy for her sister since it has always been her dream to join a beauty contest.
Young shared she saw how her sister trained for the pageant. Twice a day, Megan would go to the gym. She also has training for question and answer, walking and make up. She is really dedicated and wants to win the contest, Young added.
But if her sister doesn't win, the Kapuso actress said she's still going to be proud of her. Asked if she also has plans to join a beauty pageant, Young said that's not part of her goal.
Her passion is acting, Young noted, and she'd rather focus on what she likes to do than what other persuade her to do. "Dito na lang ako sa gusto ko, which is acting."
As for her next teleserye, Young said she has no idea yet if she will play a bida or a contrabida role. It doesn't really matter for her as long as she can show her skills and talents in acting.
Of course, she is also pressured to show how much she has grown as an artist ever since she transferred networks. Young feels lucky to have been offered the contrabida role in "Mundo Mo'y Akin" when she moved to GMA-7.
Talking about the Kapuso network, Young said she's working hard to show the network that they weren't wrong in offering something for her.
"Ayoko rin namang may masabi ang mga bosses ng GMA na, 'Kinuha natin siya, baka sayang lang ang ibinigay natin.'"
