Grand Finalist Of ‘Pilipinas Got Talent’ Passes Away Due To CancerHe may not be a big star but for sure, his life and his story has touched many people in the past three years. In 2011, ‘Pilipinas Got Talent’ Season 3 had Bringas Brothers as among its grand finalists. The other member of that duo has recently passed away.
Kurt Bringas died last Sunday. He has been battling bone cancer even during the time he competed in PGT. He formed the duo with his brother Jefferson. The brothers were noted for their outstanding acoustic act. His fans gathered in his family’s residence in Davao del Sur to pay their last respects.
During their stint in PGT Season 3, the Bringas Brothers faced off with other acts like the Maasinhon Trio, a group of old singers, which won the grand prize. It was that season when Khalil Ramos was declared the second grand winner. Khalil is now one of the new talents being groomed by ABS-CBN’s talent management arm Star Magic.
Not surprisingly, Kurt’s life story is one full of tears. He joined PGT at a time when he was battling against bone cancer. His family’s support was undeterred. That was why many people were touched by his courage and hopefulness when he joined the talent competition.
After their stint in the show, it took ABS-CBN just a few months to dramatize the story behind the Bringas Brothers. Their story was featured in one episode of the drama anthology ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya.’ The story revolved around the brothers’ strong ties amid Kurt’s personal struggle with bone cancer. That story was aired some time in 2012.
The family was not surprised about his demise because they knew it could possibly happen, given the fact that cancer is truly a fatal health condition. However, the family still felt devastated about their recent loss. Jefferson was beside his brother on his last moment.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Jefferson reiterated that his family was able to show to Kurt how they love him. He was certain that Kurt knew how much he was loved during his final moments. Although they feel sadness from the loss, Jefferson revealed that he and his family somehow feels relief now that they are sure his brother is not suffering anymore.
Their mom, Helen, recounted that she was crying too hard during that sad moment. She asked Kurt to hold on but the ailing son simply said he wanted to hold on but could no longer bear the pain.
Kurt’s father, Amado, was also devastated by his demise. He disclosed that during the time when his son was confined to the hospital, he tried his best not to cry or to show any sign of weakness. He said he is sure Kurt would prefer it if he as the father of the family would be strongest at the period. That was why the mourning father cried his heart out when his son died.
