Jed Madela Proud And Happy To Be WCOPA Hall Of FamerJed Madela had goosebumps when he learned he will be inducted in the hall of fame of the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA).
The WCOPA is considered a "talent olympics" wherein various dancers, singers, musicians, actors and models compete for the top spot.
Madela joiend WCOPA in 2005 and was announced the first-ever Filipino Grand Champion Performer of the World in the senior division.
He confirmed to PEP.PH that he will be inducted as a hall of famer in July.
“Noong sinabi sa akin, sobra akong na-goosebumps!"
“At the same time, masaya ako kasi parang naukit na ‘yong pangalan ko. It’s a big thing not just for me but also for the World Championships.”
WCOPA chose people who have already excelled in their field and contributed to the industry they are in before they induct them as hall of famers.
“They based it on my achievements here sa Pilipinas.”
After winning WCOPA, Madela has been active with the organization. He judged several competitions to look for new talents.
“Kumbaga, involved na rin ako sa World Championships."
Now that he is a hall of famer, Madela will no longer join singing contests.
“For me siguro, parang I think I’m done with contests already."
He can now be a judge, a mentor or a consultant, Madela said.
“Siguro sa mga pinagdaanan ko in performing, kahit papaano alam ko na ‘yong tricks of the trade on how to perform, how to be on stage, how to prepare for a performance."
As an advice to other aspirants, Madela said they need to relax and enjoy the show. Savor the moment, he said.
Madela also has a new album titled All Original. The 10-track album is his first ever with Star Records.
He spent nine years with Universal Records.
“You know, it was also my management’s decision to streamline my career."
“Kasi, I’m always with ABS-CBN, I’m a Kapamilya, and they always use my voice sa mga teleserye and sa movie theme songs."
Since he is now with Star Records, it is easier to use his songs for its teleseryes.
