Star Cinema Impresses Kapuso Actress Marian RiveraKapuso primetime actress Marian Rivera was impressed by the way Star Cinema, the movie production arm of rival ABS-CBN, handles its artists and promotes its film.
She began to realize why there are a number of actors and actresses who like doing movies with Star Cinema even though they are not contract artists of ABS-CBN. Marian's boyfriend, Dingdong Dantes, already did three movies with the movie production house.
The first two earned him a best actor award from FAMAS. The third and yet-to-be-titled film will pair him up with Bea Alonzo.
Marian was very happy to have worked and collaborated with Star Cinema in starring in and producing "Kung Fu Divas.” She will star here with ABS-CBN's comedy queen Ai-Ai Delas Alas.
Marian said it's a good opportunity for artists like her to be able to do a film with Star Cinema. Even though she has been a contract star of GMA-7 for so long, she is not an exclusive star of GMA Films. It's a good thing artists are now allowed to do movies with another movie production house even though there are rivalries. It broadens one's horizons, the primetime actress said.
She denied, however, that her decision to work with Delas Alas and Star Cinema was primarily influenced by Dingdong who starred in "Segunda Mano" (2011) with Kris Aquino and "One More Try" (2012) with Angel Locsin and Angelica Panganiban.
She and Dingdong have different lives when it comes to their careers and what steps they would like to take, Marian explained. "Malaki ang tiwala namin sa bawat isa. Kung ano ang gusto naming gawin, susuportahan namin ang bawat isa. Pero hindi ibig sabihin na dinidiktahan namin ang bawat isa o kung ano ang gagawin namin."
What's important is that both of them respect each other's decision, Marian said, adding that she's very happy with her decision to star in and produce "Kung Fu Divas." If the movie becomes a success in the box office, she will surely not think twice about co-producing another film again.
