"Lihis" Movie Challenges Isabelle DazaIsabelle Daza said she was deglamorized for her film, "Lihis," which was directed by award-winning director Joel Lamangan. At first, she was nervous to do the film since she is not comfortable not to put any make-up on.
Isabelle said she cannot even go out of the house without any make-up on, so it's really challenging for her to do the film. She plays Ada, a simple teacher who wants to find out the truth about the massacre of her father (played by Joem Bascon) and his godfather (Jake Cuenca).
She confronted her mother (played by real-life mom Gloria Diaz) about the mystery. Isabelle said it's such a different feeling to work with her mother, but it also made it easier for her. She was really interested with the movie when she read the script. When she showed it to her mother, the former beauty queen gave her go-signal to Isabelle.
Even though she was deglamorized in the said film, she was able to appreciate how she looked like when the scene was shot because it was very raw and different.
Isabelle shared their director has always find it hard to deal with her because she's finding it difficult to deliver her lines in Tagalog. Joel wanted scenes to be shot in just one take, but Isabelle sometimes takes three to four takes.
However, she learned in the film to brush up her Tagalog, which is really rusty at best. This is the first time she had to be deglamorized in a film since in her first film, "It Takes A Man And A Woman," she played a glamorous character.
Isabelle considers her mother, Gloria, her inspiration. When the beauty queen made the movie "Ang Pinakamangandang Hayop Sa Balat Ng Lupa," many people also criticized her acting and her Tagalog. But her mother never quit. Isabelle said she just persevered until she became an award-winning actress.
It has been a year since she last made a teleserye. The last one was "Faithfully" in 2012. Isabelle said it was her choice not to make any teleseryes for the meantime because she wants to take a rest. She was very tired in the taping schedule of "Faithfully."
Even though GMA-7 offered a couple of teleseryes for her to make, Isabelle decided to decline their offer. She wants to concentrate on "Eat Bulaga," "Taste Buddies" and a movie or two.
"Siguro kung medyo light na ang workload natin, I can accept na ulit a teleserye. But right now, okay na wala muna."
