Aljur Abrenica Denies Sexual Abuse SpeculationsAljur Abrenica has vehemently dismissed speculations that he and some of his fellow actors are being ‘sexually abused’ by the production of ‘Sunday All Stars.’ The TV show is GMA-7’s Sunday afternoon offering to variety show fans, competing with ABS-CBN’s ‘ASAP 18.’
The issue started when Aljur appeared sexy in his topless outfit in a tribal costume during the August 25 live episode of the show. He was in a weekly production number of his group ‘Ligang I-Like.’ Aljur was not the only male star to dance wearing that sexy outfit as he was accompanied by fellow actors Aldenb Richards and Enzo Pineda.
After the show, screen captures of that segment circulated online, specifically at sexy and gay blogs. That was when many netizens reacted about the need for the three male actors to be dressed that way.
About the speculations that they are being forced by the production to dress sexily to attract viewers, Aljur simply shrugged off the issue. He disclosed that the production of ‘Sunday All Stars’ have nothing to do about the types of costumes they decide to use every week.
He revealed that they all have the liberty to wear any costume that they think would be appropriate for their production number. Besides, he had no issue wearing that outfit because it was just the right thing to wear given the theme of their group’s production number for that week.
He refuted allegations that the staff of ‘Sunday All Stars’ are taking advantage of them. He assured the people that they are still treated with respect even behind the camera during the airing of the show. He reiterated that the show has not taken advantage of them ever.
Update on Aljur
Meanwhile, Aljur is set to star in another TV series in his home network. He would be paired once again with loveteam partner Kris Bernal. ‘Prinsesa ng Buhay Ko’ would be the tandem’s 11th project as screen couple. They are now described as the Royal Couple of Local TV.
‘Prinsesa ng Buhay Ko’ was originally entitled ‘Prinsesa ng Masa’ but the network decided to alter the title a bit when ABS-CBN suddenly aired a show entitled ‘Mutya ng Masa’ a public affairs show hosted by Doris Bigornia who is now subject to Kapamilya’s hard selling network strategy.
The new TV series would air starting September 23. It would be part of GMA Telebabad primetime block. The show would be aired before ’24 Oras’ and would replace the current show in the timeslot, ‘Binoy Henyo.’ Aljur’s most recent TV series in GMA-7 was ‘Coffee Prince,’ which aired last year.
As for ‘Sunday All Stars,’ the show has just begun its new season last Sunday (September 15). The group members were re-shuffled to give every star the opportunity to work with other stars. There are talks that the show would be axed soon to give way to the return of an enhanced version of ‘Party Pilipinas.’
