Rocco Nacino Said That Role In Bayan Ko Is The Greatest Challenge Of His CareerRocco Nacino will be playing a 35-year-old mayor in GMA News Channel’s Bayan Ko series. He told PEP.PH that it is his toughest challenge to date because he is playing a role that is significantly older and more mature than him.
Nacino said that he has to put on prosthetics and a bit of white hair to make his character believable. Physically, he said that he has to put a lot of effort to make his movements more like a 35-year-old official.
He said that he even has to change the tone of his voice. Nacino also realized how hard it is to be in politics. But when asked if he would like to enter politics in the future, the Kapuso star vehemently said no.
Nacino said that politics should be left to the politicians because it takes a lot to be a public servant.
He added that in his role as a mayor alone, he has to learn a lot to be able to make his character believable. He even went to the Pasig Municipal Hall, so he can learn more about the job of a mayor—what he does and what he needs to do. Nacino was able to observe what a mayor faces every day.
He said that it is important for him to observe what’s really happening because he will be able to incorporate it to his character as a mayor. Nacino wasn’t able to talk to the mayor, but he was able to hold a meeting with the city administrator.
The city administrator thought him what a mayor should do in his every day life in the office. His stint at the Pasig Municipal Hall better prepared him for his role, Nacino said.
Bayan Ko will run for six episodes, one episode per week. He said that the biggest challenge of the role would be the calamity that hit the town. Nacino said that there is also a part wherein his character is being tempted by corruption.
After shooting for Bayan Ko, Nacino will also start making an indie film called Ibong Adarna. He said that he is very excited for the indie film.
