Claudine Barretto Denies Raymart Santiago's Allegations About Her Drug UseClaudine Barretto said she is tired of the issues with estranged husband Raymart Santiago. She denied his allegations regarding her reported drug abuse, and said what she was injecting into herself is a "beauty secret" to keep her skin looking young and fresh.
Before Raymart releases anything that might affect their family, Claudine hoped that he will think of their children--Sabina and Santino--first because he is destroying the very foundation of who they are. The actress, her two lawyers and father Miguel held a press conference at the Rembrandt Hotel in Quezon City on October 1.
In Raymart's counter-affidavit, he alleged that Claudine has been a drug user for so long. She is reportedly so dependent on the prohibited drugs that she even injects herself with them. There is also a video submitted wherein the actress was seen injecting herself with an unknown substance.
Claudine earlier accused Raymart of physically, sexually, emotionally, mentally, psychologically and economically abusing her. The actor denied these allegations and said his estranged wife might be hallucinating because of the effects of drugs.
The actress' camp didn't deny the existence of the video, but said she was merely injecting herself with her "beauty secret." She alleged that Raymart does the same because they owe it to their fans to look good. The substance in that injection was apparently called Gerovital H3.
According to the presentation presented by Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, Gerovital H3 is a drug developed in Romania by Ana Aslan. The main ingredient is called anesthetic procaine hydrochloride and contains small amounts of benzoic acid, potassium metabisulfite and disodium phosphate. The lawyer said none of these drugs are in the list of the Dangerous Drugs Act as regulated or prohibited drugs.
He also showed a statement wherein an unnamed witness said she was the one supplying the Gerovital H3 to Claudine. The witness was apparently a registered nurse. According to Atty. Topacio, Raymart's accusations has no relevance to the Violence Against Woman case filed by Claudine.
"Ginawa lang po niya ‘yan to publicly humiliate and degrade my client, at para magalit sa kanya ang publiko at mapahiya siya, which shows the kind of person Mr. Santiago is."
Claudine lamented the fact that she wasn't aware someone was taking videos of her when she was injecting herself with the substance. In their house, Raymart allowed their maids, drivers and even the masseure to take photos and videos of Claudine.
The actress reiterated how slighted she felt that Raymart did not protect her as his wife and the mother of his children. The actor earlier said the evidence they submitted are just for defending himself. They have other evidence against the actress that will prove the drug use allegations.
Claudine said there were video cameras inside their compound, even in their bathrooms. She pointed to Raymart as the one who had these "bugs" installed.
Atty. Topacio also showed a copy of Claudine's drug tests--one in October 2011 and another one in April 2013. During the whole time they were together, Claudine had to prove herself to Raymart that she wasn't a drug addict for at least six times.
"I always have to come up with evidence to prove, hanggang sa nakakapagod na. It’s hard for an actress na pumasok sa laboratory o sa ospital para magpa-drug test. It’s very humiliating, kasi ang daming tanong."
"So, six times sa buhay ko, ginawa ko ‘yon, para lang mapatunayan ko ‘yon. And I’m not gonna do that again."
On September 30, Claudine again underwent a drug test to assure her parents that she's not using any illegal drugs. The actress is aware that some people have been saying she merely asks for other people's urines, so she will be tested negative.
The actress' camp presented the result of the test. She tested negative to: PMP, cocaine, methadone, ecstacy, metamphetamine, morphine and opium, among others.
"Kung totoo ngang mentally ill ako or drug addict ako, bakit mo pababayaan ang mga anak mo sa akin ng ilang buwan? Di ba, sila dapat ang unang binitbit mo? Hindi yung mga Louis Vuitton luggages, hindi mga relo mo, hindi pera."
"I dare him, magpa-drug test siya, yung kumpleto rin."
