Ariella Arida Faces Criticisms With Positivity

Miss Universe Philippines 2013 Ariella Arida has her own special way of dealing with criticisms--she selects the criticisms she will be listening to. She said this during the send-off party held at the Gloria Maris Hall at the Gateway Mall in Cubao.

Ariella will be flying to Russia in the hopes of winning the Miss Universe crown in a year dominated by beauty queens--Miss Supranational 2013 Mutya Datul and Miss World 2013 Megan Young.

The beauty queen said she knows when the bashers are being constructive or are plain being destructive. However, she also thanked them because their criticisms make her aware about her weaknesses. She can them improve on these said weaknesses.

Without these critics, she will likely be complacent and would no longer feel the need to improve herself.

"When it comes to the physical… mga things that I have to improve, it’s not hurtful for me, because I’m aware naman of my weaknesses. But what’s really hurtful, pag naging personal na sila."

She accepts criticisms about her physical attributes, as well as how she is training for the pageant. But personal attacks tend to be more hurtful such as some people wishing her to get pregnant so she won't be able to represent the country.

But Ariella is a confident person when it comes to her looks. She knows what she's got, and she is proud of herself. If others have a problem with it, then they would have to deal with it, she said.

When it comes to her lovelife, Ariella is putting a temporary stop to it. Actor Ervic Vijandre is one of her suitors. She told him that the pageant is her priority right now, and they would have to wait and see after the Miss Universe pageant if they are really meant for each other.

Ervic, she said, supports her decision. He even wished her good luck.
