Kristine Hermosa Was The First Choice For Angel Locsin’s Role In ‘Legal Wife’The camp of Kristine Hermosa has revealed that the main role in the upcoming TV series ‘Legal Wife’ had been offered to the beautiful Kapamilya actress first. The project was supposed to be a reunion between Kristine and Jericho Rosales, whose love team launched the popularity of teleserye in late 1990s via ‘Pangako Sa ‘Yo.’
According to sources, it was Kristine’s husband, Oyo Boy Sotto, who refused to give her the consent to do the TV project. Oyo reportedly did not like the idea that the daring role would require numerous kissing scenes between the two lead characters. That disapproval curtailed the possible comeback team-up of the once popular loveteam.
According to sources, there was also a deeper reason behind Oyo’s refusal to allow Kristine to do the series. He reportedly felt insecure that his wife would be working closely with her former boyfriend. It could be recalled that Kristine and Jericho were once an item. In fact, Jericho is believed to be Kristine’s first love.
Angel as second choice
After Kristine turned down the project, it was logically offered to Angel Locsin, who has been waiting for her next primetime project for more than three years now. And the rest, as they say, is history. Angel is now busy taping for the series along with co-stars Maja Salvador and JC de Vera.
But it is somehow startling why the creative unit head of the project, Des Tanwangco and Star Cinema executive Malou Santos deny this issue. They insist that the series was originally conceptualized and offered to Angel. This may not surprise some people because Malou is one of the higher executives of ABS-CBN who keeps on fighting for Angel.
Many fans of Kristine and Jericho now feel the loss because ‘Legal Wife’ could possibly be a very good comeback project for the two stars. It has been many years since Kristine accepted TV work. She was last seen in the big screen in one of those ‘Enteng Kabisote’ movies many years ago.
Meanwhile, there is a lot of confusion about the airing of ‘Legal Wife.’ The series was originally slated to premiere on November 4. But it was moved to November 18 pilot date to give way to ‘Honesto,’ another new ABS-CBN primetime TV series.
But it seems that ‘Legal Wife’ would not be airing on November 18. That is because the network chose to accommodate a new Koreanovela, ‘When a Man Falls In Love.’ This new development is logically infuriating Angel’s fans, who assert that they have been waiting long enough to catch Angel on primetime once again.
The last we heard, the TV series would not be airing anytime this year. ABS-CBN reportedly shelved the project and intends to air it sometime next year. There are even rumors that it would not be shown on primetime as the network is now starting to revive its afternoon daytime programming.
