CNN’s Anderson Cooper Gets A Star In ‘Walk Of Fame Philippines’

It is the season to unveil several additions to ‘Walk of Fame Philippines.’ The organizers of the annual event are yet to release the final list of this year’s recipients of ‘Walk of Fame’ stars. But there are already hints as to who the new additions would be.

Aside from Miss World 2013 Megan Young, guess who is getting the Walk of Fame star this year. It is no other than CNN correspondent and anchorman Anderson Cooper. No other than German Moreno, who is the main proponent of the annual project, has confirmed this report.

This year, Walk of Fame Philippines would hold its yearly ceremony on December 1. Several stars would be added to the current roster of stars that are showcased in an area in Eastwood City in Libis, Quezon City. The project is funded by Kuya Germs and is obviously a local take on Hollywood’s own ‘Walk of Fame.’

Breaking the rules

This year, Kuya Germs is breaking his own rules. That is because ‘Walk of Fame Philippines’ is exclusively for Filipino celebrities and entertainers who have made a difference. That is why many people did not believe the initial speculations that Anderson, an American, would be given his own ‘star.’

But Kuya Germs insists that he deserves a star in local Walk of Fame. That is because he wants to give honor and appreciation to Anderson, who has contributed greatly to making the rest of the world know more about the plight and struggles of the victims and survivors of Super Typhoon Yolanda in the Visayas region.

Kuya Germs asserts that Anderson’s reports were instrumental in enticing the rest of the world to take action and give donations to help the calamity victims. Kuya Germs even agreed to some people’s observations that Anderson was more helpful than all other local news reporters in terms of making Filipinos and other nationalities know more about victims’ continuous ordeal.

Anderson’s own star

This early, Kuya Germs know for a fact that Anderson would not be around to witness how his star in Walk of Fame would be unveiled on December 1. But he insisted that he would try to invite him and make sure that this recognition would reach him (Anderson) especially over the social media.

The Master Showman also reiterated that Anderson might not be a movie star, a singer, or an arts man but he surely made a difference through doing his job well. He hopes that even through the social networks, Filipinos would be able to thank back Anderson for his hard work and determination to help typhoon Yolanda’s victims.

Anderson is now one of the most popular news personalities around the world. It is an open knowledge in the international media community that Anderson is gay. He has personally and proudly admitted it in the past few years. But he believes that there is no reason for him to cross dress just to express his opinions and thoughts as a gay man.
