Jake Cuenca Says He Didn't See Anything During Anne Curtis' Slapping Incident

Jake Cuenca admitted he is irritated because of the Anne Curtis slapping incident issue that drags his name and actor John Lloyd Cruz's into it. He maintained that he didn't see anything and that's why he won't be able to contribute much.

Besides, since Anne already apologized, maybe the public should also move on from the incident. It can be remembered that there are speculations saying Jake's and John Lloyd's prank triggered Anne's outburst at the Prive Luxury Bar in The Fort, Taguig City.

The actor believes the issue was "blown out of proportion." Jake already denied his reported involvement in the issue, and said it is not in his character to pull pranks on other people. If he is, he should have just went back to kindergarten, he added.

Jake said it just so happened that he, John Lloyd and Anne were there, but they were with a separate group of friends. In fact, when Anne apologized to him, he told her that he didn't even get to say "hi" to her.

Prive, Jake said, is such a big place that it's hard for anyone to just see their friends or acquaintances.

He explained that he wasn't with John Lloyd as opposed to what a fashion blogger was trying to say. He just saw him at the bar, and he said hi to a couple of their common friends.

Jake was surprised though when he went upstairs and saw that everyone has gone home already. "So, I’m not entitled to have an opinion on this. I didn’t see anything."

ABS-CBN already called him a day before the issue was published. He told the management that there's nothing to worry about since he was not there to witness anything.

Jake said they can even ask some of the hundred people there, and they can prove that he was not near the incident when it happened.

He's usually positive about things, he said, so this issue is really that irritating since he let himself be "pissed" by a blogger-reporter.

Jake, on the other hand, appreciated the text Anne sent him. And that is why, he said that even if he saw something, he might not speak about it since he is friends with Anne.

He has worked with her a number of times, including in the teleserye "Green Rose." And as for John Lloyd, Jake said he looks up to him as an actor.

When he got to the Prive that time, the incident was already done, he added. He came from work that time. Anne apologized to him because she saw his tweets.

In the 10 years that he's been in the showbiz industry, Jake said he has faced a lot of issues, scandals and controversies. But always, he owns up to his mistakes, he added.

"But I’m not gonna own up to something that I wasn’t part of."

The important thing is, Jake said, he is okay with both Anne and John Lloyd. He also denied that there is a directive from the management for them to keep quiet.

Jake revealed that when Mariole Alberto, Star Magic head, phoned him to ask what happened, he just told her that what he knows was what news also arrived on their doorstep.

But no, there was no directive for them to not speak about it, he added.

Asked about Anne's apparent statement that she can buy TV host Phoemela Baranda, her friends and the bar, Jake said it was hard for him to believe that because "Anne is one of the nicest people I know."

He also never saw Anne as someone with an ego, "so, para sa akin, ang hirap paniwalaan."

In truth, Jake said the issue may have been taken out of context and stretched out a bit since there is an actress involved in it. Things like what happened are regular incidents in bars, he added.
