KC Concepcion Shares Experiences In Making "Boy Golden"

KC Concepcion said her role in "Boy Golden" was the most challenging one she did. She also felt awkward being paired with someone much older than her—Governor ER Ejercito.

KC did her own stunts in the movie, and even had to train for three months in mixed martial arts (MMA). The movie centers around the life of Arturo Porcuna, a gangster in Tondo during the 1950s and 1960s.

The actress, on the other hand, played Marla Dee, a female gangster/stripper who want to exact revenge. She is also the wife of ER's character, Arturo.

Although she felt awkward with ER, KC said she just decided to focus on director Chito Rono. She added that ER is respectful of her and never took advantage of her.

It is the first time that KC was paired with someone older than she, but the director and ER made it clear that the story was not focused on their love story. "Hindi naman siya love story talaga na's more of dahil pareho ang target nila."

The actress shared she had to shoot a fight scene for 38 hours. Physically, "Boy Golden" was the hardest movie she ever did.

To prepare for the fight scenes, she trained for five hours a day for three months in MMA. She also trained how to hold a gun, as well as how to kick, punch and have endurance.

As Marla Dee, KC was physically challenged. Even before they began shooting for the scenes, the actress already started training for it. And not only is Marla a gangster, there is also some emotional baggage in her background.

As part of an all-male cast, KC said she had to be careful as well in terms of her wardrobe and her actions.

Meanwhile, KC shared she and ER got into a minor accident while shooting the film. Since they were riding in vintage cars, the brakes isn't that smooth anymore.

"Medyo napalakas ang preno. Tracking kami at may mga camera sa harap, tapos malakas ang pagsubsob niya. Wala naman kaming natamaan pero yung sudden stop."

Some of the crew, who were behind them, were also bruised by that sudden stop. As for KC, her knees got bruised because of that incident. Asked if she considered to have a stunt double, KC said she cannot because she has a dialogue while doing the stunts.

It was worth it, the actress said, adding that she really enjoyed doing the girl-to-girl fight scenes for four days.
