Marian Rivera Is Excited For 2014 ProjectsKapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera is set to blaze 2014 on fire as she prepares for a number of projects this year. Aside from her new teleserye with Alden Richards entitled "Carmela," Marian will also have a sitcom and a movie under Regal Films.
The last teleserye Marian did was "Temptation of Wife" back in April 2013. "Carmela," her first team up with Alden, will start airing this January on the Kapuso network.
The actress was supposed to do the sitcom as well, but she decided to prioritize "Carmela" first. After "Carmela" finds its footing, that's the time Marian will start taping for the sitcom.
Since her last television show was in April 2013, Marian said it will take a while for her to really be in character. Once she feels she is "Carmela" already, then that's the time she will be prepared to do the sitcom.
Aside from the teleserye and sitcom, Marian will also be shooting a movie under Regal Films. The actress shared that she just talked with Mother Lily Monteverde about the movie.
Marian is still under contract with Regal Films.
Asked what kind of movie she likes to make, the actress said she's more intent to make quality movies now. It's hard to pinpoint what the audience would want to watch, but the important thing is to try different genres.
Marian has seemingly be locked in romantic comedies. "Wala namang masama kung mag-try ka nang mag-try, as long as maganda yung quality ng pelikula mo at proud ka—kumita man ‘yan o hindi."
Although she was used to box office success before, Marian said she now realized the important of quality films--that sometimes, it's more important to do a film that has a strong and sensible plot than one that is made for box office recognition.
She recognized that a lot of people judge one artist by the number of blockbusters under his/her name, but Mother Lily explained to her that there are times quality should be an artist's priority over earning money.
Because of Mother Lily's explanation, Marian agreed to do a heavy drama movie.
"Sabi ko naman, totoo nga naman, kasi minsan, ang tao, pag gumawa ng pelikula, kahit hindi maganda, basta blockbuster, okay na, e. Di ba?"
This is the first time she will do a drama movie, the actress said, adding that she has always agreed to doing romantic comedies in films.
The last movie she did under Regal Films was "My Lady Boss" in 2013, which didn't do so well in the box office.
Asked who her leading man would be, Marian remained mum, although she clarified this is not the Coco Martin film she is set to do in the future.
