Abs Cbn Reportedly Declines Feelers From Mariel Rodriguez To Again Co Host PbbThe possibility of Mariel Rodriguez returning to ABS-CBN as a TV host is looking dimmer. That is after the Kapamilya network reportedly turned down feelers from Mariel’s camp to return as co-host of ‘Pinoy Big Brother,’ which will return with a new season this first quarter of the year.
According to well-placed sources, ABS-CBN turned down the possibility of Mariel being a co-host again of the popular franchised reality show. The show will soon launch another season of ‘Pinoy Big Brother Teens,’ which can be expected in time for the upcoming summer. It will officially be hosted by Toni Gonzaga, as usual.
It can be recalled that Mariel had a falling out with ABS-CBN when she decided to abruptly leave the network to join Willie Revillame’s defunct TV5 game show, ‘Willtime Bigtime,’ which later transformed into a noontime show ‘Wowowillie.’ The TV5 show went off the air in October last year after TV5 and Willie had a falling out of their own.
After that, Mariel has not been seen on TV, except for occasional guest appearances on ABS-CBN. She was first seen as a guest who greeted manager Boy Abunda in late-night newscast ‘Bandila.’ After that, she has remained in hiatus.
When being asked by some press people on rare occasions that she shows up on events, Mariel simply declares that she is on vacation. She has disclosed that she is currently into a new hobby---cultivating and harvesting organic products from her own garden.
But some observers think that more than four months of vacation can be too long for someone like Mariel. For many months now, there have been rumors that she is returning to ABS-CBN with the help of her manager, Boy, who is one of the most influential figures in the company today. Unfortunately, such speculation has yet to materialize.
ABS-CBN must still be feeling grudges since Mariel left them a few years ago on a sour note. She left while being a co-host of ABS-CBN defunct noontime show ‘Happy, Yipee, Yehey,’ which was also hosted by Toni, Randy Santiago, and John Estrada. That time, Randy and John were having personal gap with their friend Willie, who disliked the idea of them accepting a new show from Kapamilya network.
Mariel also left bad taste in the mouth when she said insulting and sarcastic words against the show she left. And who would ever forget how she had a falling out with Toni, after she reportedly made fun of her once close friend by describing her as ‘cross eyed’?
However, we may expect Mariel to show up in selected ABS-CBN shows in the coming days. She will be promoting the movie ‘Sa Ngalan and Ama, Ina, at mga Anak,’ a film produced by common-law husband Robin Padilla and released through Star Cinema. It is not yet clear which shows she will appear in, if ever ABS-CBN will allow her to promote the movie in some of their shows.
