Deniece Cornejo: I Was Raised With Christian Values And Strong Principles

Deniece Cornejo says that she was raised well by her parents and that she has Christian values and strong principles.

This was part of remarks given by Cornejo to members of the media just before his camp went to the Taguig City Hall of Justice to file a rape case against Vhong Navarro.

According to Cornejo, she does not want her family to be involved in this because she can face this on her own.

However, she did say that her family is hurting. She insisted, nonetheless, that her family knows she is telling the truth.

“Kaya hindi po ako uuwi na hindi nagbibigay honor, hindi lang sa pamilya ko, kundi sa buong Pilipinas,” she said.

She said she needs to show that evil will not trump good.

According to Cornejo, “Pinalaki po ako nang maayos ng magulang ko with Christian values and strong principles.”

This is why, she said, she just wants to teach people “na may kasamaan” a lesson. “Gusto ko lang po maturuan [sila] ng leksiyon,” she said.

According to the woman, her father wanted to come home to the Philippines to support her. As for her mother, she said that she told her that if she herself is strong in facing this challenge, so should her mother be.

Cornejo also made clear that she does not want anyone close to her to be dragged into this issue. She said she does not need people to support her because this is her way of protecting them.

As much as she can, she wants to protect them, she said.

“Ako lang naman ang biktima dito, e. Hindi ko kailangang kumuha ng kakampi dahil mas nangingibabaw pa rin ang pagmamahal ko sa kanila,” Cornejo said, according to the Philippine Entertainment Portal.

Her Message To Vhong

Cornejo said that she feels anger and is being hurt because of the raging issue she figures in. The model and bit player also said that she is feeling ashamed amid all of this.

However, she does have a message for Vhong Navarro, her alleged rapist.

“I hope lalabas naman kung ano yung katotohanan, e,” she said.

Talking directly to Navarro in another part of the interview, she said: “Kuya Vhong, alam mo kung ano yung katotohanan. I hope you’ll be a man to face the consequences of your actions. That’s it.”

Meanwhile, she continued by saying that God is on her side and makes her stronger despite this massive challenge.

“Si God ang nagpapalakas sa akin ngayon. Siya lang po ang kakampi ko, dahil ngayon, hindi ko na po alam kung sino ang pagkakatiwalaan ko,” she said.

Cornejo also said in the interview that after the alleged rape incident, Navarro kept on saying sorry to her.

This is the reason, she said, that she initially agreed to not press charges against the “It’s Showtime” host.

Cornejo’s camp just filed a rape case against Navarro, a more serious case compared to the “attempted rape” detailed in the police blotter connected to the incident.

The woman said that since Navarro persistently said sorry to her, starting when they were still in her condominium unit until they got to the police station, she gave her the chance to change and get on with his life and career. She also said that she knows a lot of people love Navarro.

Furthermore, she said that she even told Navarro, “Hindi ako nagsu-sorry na ganito ang nangyari sa ‘yo. Nangyari na, e. Nasaktan mo na ako, e. I’m so sorry because I gave my trust to you.”

Nonetheless, since Navarro has filed charges against her and that it’s her reputation on the line, she said that she will fight this fight.

“Nakadawit na po kasi dito yung pangalan ko, ang reputasyon ko po, ang mga pamilya ko, at ang mga taong mahal ko. Ito po ang tamang paraan para mabigyan ng leksiyon ang mga taong binigyan mo na ng kabutihan, sinuklian ka pa ng kasamaan,” she said.

Cornejo turned emotional when the topic of the interview turned to her critics.

After the topic went viral, a lot of people started criticizing her, even to the point that there have been photos of her circulating on the Internet allegedly proving she has had a lot of cosmetic surgery to improve her looks.

According to Cornejo, she did not have anything done because she does not need it.

She said that she understands people will do this because they want to destroy a person’s reputation. She also said that she understands that Navarro has a lot of fans and that some of these fans will defend Navarro.

Nonetheless, the issue at hand is rape, she said. She added that she is not judging Navarro as a person, she is judging what he has done.

Turning emotional, PEP reports that Cornejo is unyielding that she has to fight for the truth.

Admittedly hurting, she said that it’s not just her work that depends on the outcome of this issue, her reputation, the reputation of her family and her school also hangs in the balance.

Cornejo also revealed in the interview that she has stopped studying at De La Salle University because of the issue.

Nonetheless, it appears that she will accept however things turn out if it is God’s will.

“Pero if this is God’s will, God’s way para ipakita sa maraming tao kung gaano [ako] kalakas na babae... Kung ikakamatay ko, kung ikakakulong ko, hindi ako natatakot. At least, may nagawa akong kabutihan at naturuan akong leksyon, hindi lang si Kuya Vhong at mga taong walang utang na loob,” she said.
