Sarah Geronimo Works With Coco Martin For A Light Drama MoviePopstar Princess Sarah Geronimo will work with award-winning actor Coco Martin in a light drama movie for Star Cinema.
The two worked together before in the ABS-CBN teleserye, "IDOL," but this is the first time the two of them will be making a film.
Sarah said she's excited to work with Coco, as well as Ruffa Gutierrez (their co-star), and director Jerry Sineneng. Sarah has been known for her romantic comedy movies, specifically the trio she starred in with John Lloyd Cruz, so a light drama movie is a new genre for her.
She acknowledged that one of the challenges for her was to create a different identity than Laida Magtalas, her character in "A Very Special Love," "You Changed My Life" and "It Takes A Man And A Woman."
Sarah understands Laida had a very big impact to the audience, so it is up to her to create a character that is completely different from her Laida identity.
In this movie, can the audience expect the Popstar Princess to be more mature in terms of kissing scenes? Sarah said the audience would have to wait and see if she will be doing more mature scenes.
Sarah maintained she will still have to think of her parents and her family whether or not they will be comfortable to allow her to have more mature scenes.
She is hoping, however, that mature scenes will not be the focus of the movie. Rather, it is significant for her that she will be doing something out of her comfort zone.
Asked why she agreed to make a light drama movie than a romantic comedy, Sarah said it is time (she's 25 years old) for her to tackle a different role. It will contribute to her believability.
Is she being pressured by her former box office successes? The Popstar Princess places more importance on the story now than on its potentiality in the box office. Although she still hopes the audience will understand and like the concept of her new movie, Sarah believes it is time for her to focus on the story rather than on the film's marketability.
