Vhong Navarro Knows Roxanne Cabanero But Denies Raping HerEmbattled "It's Showtime" host Vhong Navarro certainly knows former beauty queen Roxanne Cabanero, but he denied raping her, his lawyer said.
Atty. Alma Mallonga, Vhong's legal counsel, admitted that the TV host-comedian met the former beauty queen. But Vhong told her he never raped Roxanne.
Atty. Alma refused to comment on the blog posts and YouTube videos coming out, which showed Vhong at Vice Ganda's concert in Island Cove, Cavite the same night the rape supposedly happened. She said they will comment on the merit of the case once they received a copy of it.
She refused to give any more details about what Vhong told her regarding Roxanne. Right now, although there have been rumors of the impossibility of the rape happening, the lawyer said she must be careful about commenting.
"Susundin natin ang proseso, okay, hindi namin tatakasan ang proseso. The process has helped us. And we will follow the process."
As for Vhong's other "rape" case filed by model Deniece Cornejo, she said her camp should not use this rape case to delay the proceeding of the six cases filed by Vhong against Deniece, businessman Cedric Lee and his sister, Bernice.
Atty. Alma said they were not surprised by the accusations now being hurled against the TV host-comedian. Cedric earlier said there were other rape complaints against Vhong.
Asked about the timing of Roxanne's complaint, the lawyer threw back the question to the media. "What do you think?"
Right now, they don't want any further delay in the process. They want the preliminary investigation finished, and would want the case to go to the Regional Trial Court.
But Atty. Alma maintained that it is up to the Department of Justice (DOJ) to follow their own timeline. "I can only say na ito ang tingin namin sa ebidensiya. Paniniwala namin, malakas. In the end, the DOJ will decide, and hindi kami puwede magdikta doon sa timeline naman ng DOJ."
