Cedric Lee Criticizes ABS-CBN's Reporting Of Vhong Navarro CaseChinese businessman Cedric Lee, who is being pinpointed as the mastermind of the alleged mauling of "It's Showtime" host Vhong Navarro, accused ABS-CBN of biased reporting and one-sided commentary about the case.
Cedric said he understands that the network needs to protect "one of their own," but there should be a limit when they are harboring a "rapist" already.
Vhong is a contract artist of the Kapamilya network, is hosting the hit noontime show "It's Showtime" and has starred in several movies under Star Cinema.
After the preliminary investigation of the cases Vhong filed against Cedric, Deniece Cornejo and Bernice Lee was done, the businessman at first refused to give statements to the media. He referred them to his attorney's, Howard Calleja, offices in Pasig City.
When the reporters from the three networks arrived there, Cedric surprisingly agreed to have an interview. However, he doesn't want his interview taped, but aired live.
He said ABS-CBN can edit his statements and make it look like he's saying another thing when the opposite of that is what he meant.
He accused the network of reporting bias news against him, especially when it comes to his business dealings and his relationship with certain generals. He also criticized the network for reporting that he physically abused former partner Vina Morales while they are still together.
This was despite the fact that Vina already denied these accusations. Although the network aired Vina's clarifications, it does not change the fact that his reputation has already been dragged into the mud, he added.
He also criticized them for interviewing his former mistress Patricia Javier and David Bunevacz, another business partner who he allegedly threatened. The issue with Patricia was done already, he said. In fact, the former sexy star has her full support on Cedric.
The businessman shared he even talked with her the other day, and Patricia expressed her support for him. He dared ABS-CBN to call her again. Patricia is based in the United States.
As for David, Cedric denied his accusations, and said that it was David who was guilty of estafa.
Besides, if his businesses were illegitimate, then why didn't the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) file cases against him. He dared ABS-CBN to check his and his business' tax records.
And if he's really a big-time businessman, then he would not need to extort P1 million from Vhong, he added.
Cedric lamented that ABS-CBN is trying to besmirch his reputation, so that it can clean that of their talent's. It will also breed loyalty among their talents since they will be able to see that the network protects them even from the wrong things they did.
Asked what will be his next move, Cedric joked "mag-aartista na lang din ako sa ABS-CBN."
When Marie Lozano, ABS-CBN's reporter, told Cedric that they were fair in reporting, Cedric said they didn't ask for his comments regarding his supposed anomalous dealings. Marie said he was not always available for comments. Cedric answered back that his unavailability does not give them the right to air a story without his side.
