Lawyer Flatly Denies Vhong Raped RoxanneVhong Navarro’s camp is now denying point-blank that the actor and host raped Roxanne Acosta Cabañero, the former beauty queen who recently filed a rape case against Navarro.
Atty. Alma Mallonga, in an interview with DZMM on Friday, said, “Ang masasabi ko lang po, wala pong ginawang karahasan sa kanya si Vhong.”
The lawyer said that Navarro confirms that he knows Cabañero. However, the lawyer did not say how her client came to know Cabañero.
Mallonga also pointed out a puzzling side their camp is thinking about. She said that it is strange that a rape victim, who would normally be inclined to stay private, would come out openly.
“After nagsalita na iyung abugado ng bagong complainant... And they're coming out openly na nakakapagtaka,” she said.
Meanwhile, she said that their camp is yet t get a copy of the complaint filed by the woman who alleges that she was raped by Navarro in 2010 and was inspired to come out and file a case only now because of Deniece Cornejo and what allegedly happened to her.
The lawyer said that the credibility of Cabañero is suspect and that she believes the former beauty queen is somehow linked to Cedric Lee, one of the respondents to the case filed by Navarro.
Mallonga added that their camp has been expecting new cases against Navarro, including this one filed by Cabañero, due to the comments made earlier by Lee that they are talking to other women who were also allegedly violated by Navarro.
Cabañero, in recent interviews, denied any ties to Lee. She said she has not talked to Lee and said that this fight is hers alone.
Mallonga also said that anyone can file a case and tell a story. However, she warned that people need to understand what it means to file a case. They have to prove their story, she said, and there are ramifications to filing a fabricated case.
