Vice Ganda To Testify For Vhong Navarro On Roxanne Cabanero Rape CaseVice Ganda, the co-host of Vhong Navarro on "It's Showtime," is set to submit his sworn affidavit at the Pasig Prosecutor's Office before he leaves for a series of concert in the United States.
Vhong is currently facing a rape complaint from a former beauty queen, Roxanne Cabanero, who said the comedian-TV host raped her 15 meters away from the Astoria Plaza Hotel in Pasig City. The rape supposedly happened in Vhong's car while it was parked under a tree.
But netizens figured out that Vhong was not actually in Pasig City during the night of April 24, 2010 because he was a guest of Vice's concert at Island Cove in Cavite City.
There was even a YouTube video of the said concert, showing Vice and Vhong together. Kean Cipriano, one of the guests at the concert, also posted a tweet on 2:20AM of April 25, saying he just got home because the concert just ended. He also congratulated Vice and Vhong.
Atty. Alma Mallonga, the legal counsel of Vhong, said they took precautions by asking Vice for a sworn affidavit because they know he will be leaving for the US soon.
His affidavit will be part of the evidence they will be presenting to the prosecutor's office.
During an interview, Vice said it is impossible Vhong was in Pasig City that night because he closed down the concert with him on April 24. The concert also lasted until 12 midnight or way past that.
Roxanne said she was raped at around 11PM.
"Mayro’n akong alam sa puso ko na maaaring makatulong sa kanya."
"Mayro’n akong bitbit na katotohanan at ‘yon ang sasabihin ko dahil maaaring ‘yon makatulong sa kaibigan ko, at maaaring magbigay kaliwanagan sa lahat ng iniisip ng mga tao."
Atty. Alma said they will not wait until March 13 to file their counter-affidavit. March 13 is the deadline given to Vhong's camp to answer Roxanne's allegations.
She also said they just got a copy of the complaint yesterday.
Aside from Vice, there are also other witnesses who can prove that Vhong was wrongly accused by Roxanne. According to Boy Abunda, he personally talked to Island Cove general manager Gwen Villanueva, and she told him that she saw Vhong during the said concert.
Boy also talked with Ric Valenzuela, the project director of Astoria Hotel in Ortigas, who said that no Roxanne Cabanero was checked-in at their hotel during the night of April 24.
Rose Ann Uy Aguilar, one of Roxanne's co-contestants for Miss Bikini Philippines 2010, said they actually stayed at the Millenia Suites and not at the Astoria Plaza.
Atty. Alma said this information only proves that Roxanne is not credible. "In fact, the evidence shows that Vhong could not have committed what Roxanne says he has committed."
The lawyer said Roxanne should be careful about the things she accuses Vhong of doing because she may have just incurred criminal liability "for the falsehood that she declared under oath and for the falsehood that she had recklessly announced for anybody who cared to hear her on television and print."
