Vilma Santos Believes Luis Manzano Not Yet Ready For PoliticsThough Luis Manzano has expressed that he may run for public office in the future, his mother Vilma Santo-Recto is not convinced that her son is fully ready to be a politician.
The revelation was made by the Batangas Governor in an interview with Anthony Taberna for a segment of “Tapatan ni Tunying” which aired Thursday.
“I don’t think he’s ready. But if he decides to run for a position, I will send him to school first just like how Sen. Ralph Recto told me to do,” the governor said.
Nonetheless, it should be noted that Manzano appears to be in no rush to run for public office as he said that if he decides to pursue a public service career, it should be more than an “escape” from the entertainment industry.
Manzano also said that being a politician on a whim would be unfair to his future constituents.
As for Santos-Recto, it appears that she has had enough of public office.
There have been calls from people for the actress-turned-politician to pursue a higher office in the 2016 elections. Some were pointing out that she could run for a seat in Senate while some even wanted her to run for president.
However, according to Santos-Recto, she would prefer to take a break.
“I want to have time for myself too. I’m not getting any younger,” she said.
According to her, she thinks she has done what she wanted for Batangas as governor and earlier, the mayor of Lipa City.
“The mere fact that the people of Batangas, known as 'barakos,' trust a woman, that they believe in me and follow my orders — that’s priceless,” she said.
