Piolo Pascual Plans To Quit ShowbizBefore his hit movie, "Starting Over Again," Piolo Pascual has already decided to stay in the United States for good and retire early from showbiz. He said he wants to spend more time with his son, Inigo, before he becomes an adult.
Also, he has seemingly lost the passion for acting. Piolo was emotional when he faced a select group of media for the victory party of his movie with Toni Gonzaga and Iza Calzado.
"I was seriously considering quitting this year pero when the movie became a big hit, I said the joke is on me. I guess hindi pa po time para umalis ako sa showbiz."
When she started doing the film, he was asked what was his motivation for it. He told director Olivia Lamasan that he doesn't know where he's coming from anymore. He then thanked the media and the public for the support their movie got.
"Starting Over Again" tells the love triangle of Marco (Piolo), Ginny (Toni) and Patty (Iza).
Piolo said he must be tired already because he has been in showbiz almost half of his life. One of the reason too is because he wanted to be with his son, Inigo.
"Sometimes kailangan natin pagtuunan ng pansin ang ibang bagay para hindi tayo tumanda na may na-miss out tayo."
When he told Inigo about it, his son asks him not to quit showbiz because he still wants to see him on television. Piolo said it was ironic because he wanted to quit for Inigo and yet, his son doesn't want him to do that.
"I think it was a sign for me not to leave yet. There are some things na out of our control."
But then, ABS-CBN gave him the project "Starting Over Again." Piolo believes God has a different plan for him "kaya sabay na lang tayo sa agos."
Piolo thought he can leave showbiz for good, but he doesn't seem to be in a position to decide for his own career. He leaves the plan to God and to ABS-CBN.
All Piolo knows is that he's happy.
Meanwhile, Direk Olivia was asked about her reaction when Piolo told her he wants to stay in the US. Piolo told her that he's at peace with himself already, and that he knows he's not going to last in showbiz.
Piolo already laid out his plans--a business in the US and settle there for good.
Direk Olivia wanted the movie to be a big hit, so that Piolo will realize he still belongs in Philippine showbiz. "In fact, during one of our pictorials, magkatabi kami and sabi ko, 'Anak, I'm praying that this movie makes it with the ending that we have for you.'"
She told Piolo that she wants him to get back on his feet as an actor. That's why she's very happy with the results of the film.
His projects have not been doing good in the box office as of late.
Piolo also belatedly realized that Direk Olivia has a grudge against him. The reason was not revealed, however. The two first met when the director made "Milan" (2004) with Piolo and Claudine.
The actor said it was ABS-CBN executive Malou Santos who told him that Direk Olivia has a grudge against him. Piolo said that if not for the director, he never would have made a comeback.
"Kasi pag may nagsasabi sa akin na I'm back, [iniisip ko], hindi naman ako nawala, hindi naman ako umalis. Pero maraming salamat po for the belief and the trust for making me a part of your life again."
Piolo then thanked Malou, Gabby Lopez and Charo Santos-Concio for having faith in him and for never losing hope. In fact, Gabby told him: "Magkasama tayo sa hirap, ngayon magkasama tayo sa ginhawa. We never lost hope."
He also apologized to them for "all the pains I caused you."
