Carla Abellana Airs Side On Acting Award And Geoff Eigenmann-Kylie Padilla RumorsCarla Abellana was named as the Best Drama Actress by the 5th Golden Screen TV Awards by Entertainment Press Society. She was awarded for her role in "My Husband's Lover" with Dennis Trillo and Tom Rodriguez.
Dennis won as Best Actor. He also shared his award to Tom.
Will Carla be choosy in her next projects? Carla said her manager will be the one to choose for her. Her full trust is on Arnold Vegafria.
Carla said that what's more important for her is the honor to be named the Best Drama Actress, and not the trophy. The honor is what's giving her the confidence to do better in her craft. This is her instrument to be better in the future.
During her acceptance speech, many were wondering why she didn't mention her boyfriend's, Geoff Eigenmann, name. Carla just laughed this off. She said that Geoff knows he's a part of her career ever since the beginning.
Geoff is the first leading man of Carla when she started in showbiz.
There were rumors in recent weeks that their relationship is on the rocks. Carla even admitted having problems. They ironed these problems out already, she said, adding that it's normal for couples to have problems.
She denied that she forgot to mention Geoff in her speech deliberately. Geoff is a part of her family. She didn't mention each of her family member's names. He knows already that she is thanking him when she mentioned her family. Besides, they are always talking and texting.
In fact, Geoff will celebrate his birthday on Sunday, so they will be together for a dinner with his family and friends.
"Okey naman kami. Siyempre, may mga kailangan pang ayusin at plantsahin… ganyan. Pero nakakaraos every day."
Is their problem related to the statements made by fellow Kapuso star Aljur Abrenica about Geoff hitting on Kylie Padilla, his girlfriend and Geoff's co-star in "Adarna"?
"But… Ako honestly, being the girlfriend of Geoff Eigenman and knowing him for the past four… five years, alam ko deep in my heart at saka nung mga malalapit sa amin pati na yung mga katrabaho niya na walang katotohanan kung anuman yung iniisip ng iba or kung anuman yung lumalabas."
The perfect people to ask about the issue are their directors, make-up artists and personal assistants. They are the ones who will know the truth.
But as for her, she stands by her belief that there's no truth to Aljur's allegations. Aljur may have been misinterpreted Geoff's actions, she added.
Geoff treats the "Adarna" cast and crew as family. He goes basketball and biking with the boys. He is really like that when he's enjoying his work, and he makes his co-workers feel comfortable too.
No, Kylie is not the reason for their problem, Carla said. Aljur said he and Geoff already talked about the issue.
Carla said she was not even aware about what happened. "Iyon ang maganda. Kasi nga sabi ko, ang tawag sa amin ni Aljur at ni Kylie… Ate at Kuya. Dapat laging nandiyan ang respect."
Gina Alajar, Geoff's mother, is also wishing that they be able to patch things up. Carla said Gina is also like a mother to her, so it's only normal for her to want the best for her and Geoff.
"I mean… matagal na kaming magkasama. So, tingnan natin kung together e naging malakas kami o naging strong kami para sa isa’t isa."
Carla, meanwhile, denied that the ring she's wearing on her ring finger is already a sign that they're engaged. She worked very hard for that ring, she added.
They are not talking about getting married. "Not anytime soon!" There are so many couples getting engaged and married that it became a fad already, Carla said.
Has she thought about what gift to give Geoff for his birthday? Carla said she hasn't bought him a gift yet because she's still thinking what to give him.
Meanwhile, Carla has just finished shooting for her film "So It's You" with Tom Rodriguez. It will be shown either in the third week of April or the first week of May.
They already had the photoshoot for their poster. They are ready and super excited for the film.
She plays the role of Lira, a happy-go-lucky girl who came from a poor family. Suddenly, their family won the lotto, so they instantly became rich. But they are still "jologs" and don't have "class."
The movie is very light. When they started, they had a hard time because they came from a heavy drama series. They adjusted from that to a romantic comedy.
But during the end of the film, they just enjoyed doing it, she added.
Aside from the film, there's also a new teleserye that she will do for GMA-7.
This summer, Carla is already planning what to do with her family and Geoff's family. Hopefully, they can have an out-of-town vacation.
But if "So It's You" is showing already, then she will have to stay in Manila. She wants to go to the beach because it has been more than a year since she went to the beach.
"Ang puti-puti ko na! Ha-ha-ha! Hindi na ako nakatikim ng beach! More than one year na."
