Anne Curtis Faces Tax Evasion CaseThe Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) confirmed that Anne Curtis went there because she reportedly needs to receive the letter of authority from the bureau regarding a tax evasion charge.
Commissioner Kim Henares said she wasn't able to meet Anne that time because she doesn't have an appointment with her. Also, she was outside the bureau attending to other appointments.
She didn't want to confirm or deny why Anne was there. It is better if Anne will be the one to reveal what really happened in the bureau, she said.
"Dapat tanungin niyo na lang si Anne Curtis bakit siya pumunta sa opisina ko. Ako, hindi ako puwede magsalita."
Sources said Anne was there because a letter of authority was issued to her for "alleged tax deficiencies." Once a "tax evader" received an LOA, he/she cannot amend his/her income tax returns and he/she may face civil or criminal cases because of tax evasion.
Or if a person did not file tax, then he/she won't be able to file beyond the deadline. That would face a different consequence, Commissioner Henares said.
Other reports said Anne is in the list of actors and actresses who are facing tax evasion charges. She is apparently facing tax fraud investigation that includes her "recent years" of tax payments. The National Investigation Division was the one who issued the LOA.
According to BIR records, Anne is in the top 50 of individual tax payers in 2012, paying a total of P19.1 million in income tax. She filed under self employment and practice of profession or BIR Form No. 1701.
Aside from being an actress and TV host, Anne is also an endorser of various products. Reports said Anne receives a nine-digit salary from all her deals.
This is not the only issue the TV host-actress is facing. She is also faced with the controversies of her attitude especially when she is under the influence of alcohol. She legendarily slapped John Lloyd Cruz last November and then humiliated Sam Concepcion a week ago during the birthday party of Vice Ganda.
