Marikina Court Slaps Claudine Barretto With Robbery CaseClaudine Barretto is now facing robbery raps by her former housemaids Jenifer Murillo and Malou Becher. The Marikina Regional Trial Court allowed the two housemaids to file the case after it junked Claudine's theft complaint against them.
The decision was released before Holy Week and it was in conjunction with Claudine's cases against the two maids.
According to the maids' legal counsel, Atty. Richo Quicho, Claudine alleged that in July or August 2013, the two maids stole her expensive paintings and Louis Vuitton bags in her house in Loyola Grand Villas.
Because of this, Claudine threw them out of the house and took their things as well, including their money and gadgets.
But reports said the things Claudine alleged were stolen were actually her estranged husband's, Raymart Santiago, things. Raymart will testify against Claudine to say that the two househelpers did not steal anything from her.
Raymart was the one who took those paintings and bags from the house he shared with Claudine. "In his affidavit, sinabi ni Raymart na hindi naman ninakaw ng dalawang katulong yung luggage, pero kinuha niya dahil sa kanya yun."
The actor also added that the paintings were also his.
Jenifer and Malou, as a response, filed grave coercion and robbery cases against the actress back in August or September 2013.
The grave coercion case was settled already. The only remaining one is the robbery case.
"Pero yung robbery, there was an information filed against Claudine, the prosecutor finding probable cause that the crime of robbery was indeed committed and it was committed by Mrs. Barretto."
There was not warrant of arrest issued yet although a motion from the lawyer of Claudine was received "asking for deferment, suspension, and recall of warrant of arrest [against the actress]."
The hearing on this case will start on April 25, Friday. Claudine can post a bail of P100,000 when a warrant of arrest is issued against her for the case.
Atty. Richo said Jenifer and Malou don't have that much income, but they want to clear their names for themselves and their families. Both are happy that the court has junked the case against them.
"That’s the only reason why I’m granting the interview. Not to malign [anyone], not to sow intrigues, but just to clear their [Jenifer and Malou's] names."
Jenifer and Malou are both adamant that they will pursue the case against Claudine. Atty. Richo said the actress has to face the consequences of her actions.
This case is not connected to that of Dessa Patilan, another former househelp of Claudine who she alleged of qualified theft.
Dessa was put into jail and then was able to pay the bail in March 2014 with the help of Claudine's sister, Gretchen.
