Vhong Navarro Faces Cedric Lee And Deniece CornejoVhong Navarro, Cedric Lee and Deniece Cornejo faced each other in court on May 6. Zimmer Raz, another one of the accused for the mauling of the actor-TV host, was also there.
Vhong filed serious illegal detention and grave coercion raps against Cedric, Deniece, Zimmer and their group, which included Bernice Lee, JP Calma, Jed Fernandez and Ferdinand Guerrero.
Warrants of arrest were issued against Cedric, Deniece, Zimmer, Jed and Ferdinand for the non-bailable offense of serious illegal detention. Bernice and JP did not receive warrants for that case.
JP is now believed to be in Singapore even though a lookout bulletin has been issued against him by the Immigration department.
Cedric and Zimmer were arrested in Eastern Samar last week while Deniece surrendered yesterday at the Camp Crame.
Both camps submitted pertinent documents and motions regarding the cases, according to Atty. Alma Mallonga, Vhong's legal counsel. The hearing for the petition for bail was set on May 16.
There is no resolution yet whether or not the court will allow Cedric and Zimmer to post bail for serious illegal detention. Deniece is currently staying in a detention cell of the NBI CIDG while Cedric and Zimmer stay in a detention facility at the NBI Compound in Manila.
According to Atty. Connie Aquino, Deniece's legal counsel, they can still petition the court to allow them to post bail even though serious illegal detention is a non-bailable offense "as long as the evidence of the guilt is not that strong."
Meanwhile, Deniece attended the arraignment for her case. She denied entering a "not guilty plea," so the court was the one to enter that plea for the 22-year-old model-stylist.
Her camp also asked if she can remain in the detention facility of the Camp Crame. Her second rape complaint against Vhong is still waiting for resolution at the Taguig Prosecutor's Office.
It can be remembered that Vhong was mauled inside Deniece's condo unit on January 22. Cedric and his group allegedly effected a citizen's arrest against the TV host-actor because he "raped" Deniece twice.
Vhong denied these accusations. The court also junked the first rape complaint against him.
