BIR Charges Zoren Legaspi A P4.45-Million Tax Evasion Case; Zoren Will ComplyThe Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) filed a P4.45-million tax evasion case against actor-director Zoren Legaspi for under-declaring his income in the years 2010 and 2012.
In 2010, Zoren declared an income of P6.79 million while in 2012, he declared P1.82 million. But based on the findings of the BIR, the total income of Zoren in 2010 is P9.64 million while he earned P6.49 million in 2012.
Because of this, he had a tax liability of P4.45 million since he did not declare his right income in 2010 and 2012. According to BIR Commissioner Kim Henares, Zoren "substantially under-declared" his income tax by 42 percent in 2010 and 25 percent in 2012.
On the other hand, Zoren said he is willing to comply with the demands of the BIR. He is also willing to cooperate with the bureau regarding his case.
Zoren said through a statement that he believes the right taxes should be paid because it will help in the development of the country. "Aalamin po namin kung saan kami nagkamali or kung nagkulang ba kami sa paliwanag."
He is actually glad that the BIR brought their initial findings to the Department of Justice, so it means they are doing their job. The actor-director added he loves his country and he will never evade any tax obligations.
"I just need to figure out kung saan kami nagkamali (without malice or intention) and I'm waiting lang po sa official complaint ng BIR."
He then thanked those who sent their concerns to him and his family. Zoren is the husband of actress Carmina Villaroel-Legaspi.
