Ai Ai Delas Alas Will Run For Office In 2016, Will She Run For Congress?Ai Ai delas Alas has admitted that she will be running for public office in the next elections.
During the launch of her latest endorsement, the comedienne talked about her plans to run for office saying that it is her idol, three-time Batangas Governor and acclaimed actress Vilma Santos-Recto, who inspired her to become a politician.
According to delas Alas, she has had the desire to try her hand in politics for a long time. However, she said that when she had a talk with Santos-Recto, the governor told her not to run until she was sure in her heart that she should run.
“Ngayon, ready na ako by heart so game na,” the comedienne said.
Delas Alas said, however, that she is not sure whether it will be a local or national post she will run for.
Meanwhile, the actress who recently survived a messy breakup with former husband Jed Salang, said that Santos-Recto inspired her to run for office because she idolizes the governor.
“Idol ko si Ate Vi,” she said. “Anything na ginagawa ni Ate Vi ginagawa ko din.”
She even joked that maybe someday she would have a senator husband too. “Wala nga lang akong asawang senador but later on malay mo, hindi ba?” delas Alas said.
As for her serious plans after assuming office, however, delas Alas said that she has a lot of plans for the Philippines hinting that she may be thinking about a national post.
“Marami akong gustong gawin sa Pilipinas -- 'yung napu-frustrate ako pero wala akong magawa. Pero kapag nasa (public) office ako, baka may magawa ako,” she said.
What she said next, however, hints that she may want to run for congress or for a local post.
“Ngayon iniisip ko pa kung Congress o mayor, alin doon sa dalawa, hindi pa ako sure,” she said.
It also appears that delas Alas is ready to be criticized while campaigning. She said that Santos-Recto will be there to guide and advise her. Furthermore, she said that there is nothing left for people to use to discredit her.
“Wala naman sigurong (masisira sa akin). Kahit sirain nila ako ng sirain, wala na. Alam naman nila na open book ako sa buhay, sa love life ko, sa buhay pamilya ko,” she said.
Meanwhile, for programs, she said that she will focus on improving their town. She is also thinking of passing a law about women and children because, she said, she was a battered wife. Furthermore, she said she wants to develop Calatagan into the second Boracay of the country.
