Marikina Court Issues Warrant Of Arrest Against Raymart SantiagoThe Marikina City Regional Trial Court issued a warrant of arrest against actor Raymart Santiago for violating RA 9262 or the Violence Against Women and their Children Act.
The case was filed against him by estranged wife, Claudine Barretto. According to the court, there was "probable cause" and merit in the case filed by the actress.
The warrant was issued last May 5, but it was only made known to the public today (May 22).
Claudine filed the case against Raymart last August 29, 2013.
But according to Atty. Ruth Castelo, Raymart's legal counsel, they already posted bail as early as May 7 even though they have no copy of the warrant yet.
On May 20, Raymart appealed before the court to make his plea of "not guilty," Atty. Ruth said. The court deferred the arraignment though, because the prosecutor was not present that time.
