Some Fans Had Heart Attacks After Drug Overdose Death Hoax – Claudine BarrettoIt’s not funny, Claudine Barretto said, after rumors started spreading that she has passed away because of a drug overdose. According to the controversial actress, she had fans who had heart attacks because of this hoax.
Last week, a fake report that stated that Barretto has died started spreading like wildfire on social media sites. If it was a joke, the divisive actress did not find it funny.
Talking to ABS-CBN’s Push at the sidelines of her daughter Sabina’s recital, Barretto said the hoax was done in bad taste.
“Siyempre unang-una, hindi siya joke, hindi magandang joke. Meron akong mga fans na na-heart attack at na-stroke,” she said.
Furthermore, Barretto said that her dad saw his blood pressure shoot up and had palpitations after the incident. In fact, the actress claimed that her dad did not go to Sabina’s recital because he was still experiencing palpitations and high blood pressure because of the hoax.
Meanwhile, another thing that we gleaned from the interview is that the actress hints that they have an inkling as to who started to spread the rumor that she has died.
Saying that people should not be joking about her death, the actress said that they have enlisted the help of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group of the Philippine National Police to look into the hoax.
She said, “Siyempre humingi na rin kami ng tulong sa CIDG para ma-trace [kung sino ang nagpakalat] at medyo alam na po namin kung saan nanggagaling.”
Furthermore, although she admitted that they think it’s an enemy who started the rumor, Barretto said that she does not want to name names anymore.
She said that those people may be inadvertently lengthening her life because of the superstition that when someone is rumored to be dead but is not dead, he or she will be blessed with more years. Moreover, the actress said that karma will eventually get those who started the rumor.
Claudine Barretto is currently in a fight with estranged husband Raymart Santiago and her siblings Marjorie, Gretchen and Joaquin. Claudine claimed just last month that someone shot a gun near her house but authorities in Malanday, Marikina said that no record of shootings in the area were recorded in the time frame the actress claimed this happened. Claudine also claimed later in May that thieves may have tried to enter her home.
