Carla Abellana Celebrates Her Birthday; Thankful For BlessingsCarla Abellana is thankful that she has so many blessings in terms of work and that her friends and her family were all supporting her. She spent her birthday with a dinner in one of her favorite restaurants in Manila.
Also, she texted her father Rey "PJ" Abellana an advanced Happy Father's Day. Carla's birthday and father's day usually fall in the same week.
Carla said she doesn't see her dad often but she wants him to know that she's always praying for him, and that she is thankful for all the guidance and advices.
"Kumbaga, hindi man nga kami nagkikita all the time, lagi siyang may mga paalala. Gano’n. Very daddy talaga siya. At perfect yun for me kasi same industry lang kami."
Her father is the perfect person to give her advice because they are in the same industry. He always tells her that she must be humble and nice to everyone, especially to the elderly.
He also tells her that in showbiz, Carla won't always be on top. There are down times too. "Umiikot lang daw naman ang buhay sa showbiz. Tapos kailangang pangalagaan mong mabuti kasi hindi raw siya forever."
Carla has two shows on GMA-7 now--a soap entitled "My Destiny" with Tom Rodriguez and the sitcom "Ismol Family" with Ryan Agoncillo. Carla said she's happy to be back on television now. She missed being on TV since she has been doing quite a number of movies lately.
She is thankful too that she will be given a chance to try doing comedy. She didn't ask for advice on her comedy role because she just needs to listen to her director and her co-actors.
She reached out to her director and co-actors, so it will be easier for her.
Carla plays the role of Majay, who she said won't be the one to make people laugh since "Ismol Family" is only a light comedy. It's a family show, she added, saying that there are lessons in every episode.
It's for the whole family, Carla said. She is a welder here, an overseas Filipino worker.
Carla will be working with Direk Dominic Zapanta, who she knows will be teaching her a lot of skills when it comes to comedy. If there's one thing that she learned from the sitcom, it is that it's difficult to do a scene alone.
In "Ismol Family," since she plays an OFW, she will be talking to the other characters via Skype only.
Carla is also preparing for her role in "My Destiny." She is excited with the storyline of the teleserye.
Aside from Tom, she will also be working again with Kuh Ledesma, who was her mother-in-law in "My Husband's Lover."
"Magkikita-kita at magkakasama-sama na naman kami. So sana makatulong yun para gumaan yung trabaho nang konti knowing that I will be working with them again."
Carla said many will cry on her role in "My Destiny." She might also be pitied. But at the same time, the teleserye will be feeding hope to the loveless.
Meanwhile, Carla hinted that she has suitors now--both from showbiz and outside showbiz. Asked about Tom, she said they are both happy to work together.
"Na kumbaga… ituloy lang natin yung friendship. ‘Tapos yung… kung paano tayo magtrabaho with each other, tuluy-tuloy lang ‘yan."
She denied that Tom is already courting her and that they were seen dating just recently. "Oy, grabe naman! Masyado naman kayong assuming! Ha-ha-ha! Masyado kayong excited! Inuunahan n’yo agad, e! Parang gano’n?"
For her and Tom, they're just happy for all the projects, and that they will be working again for a TV show. Right now, their focus is on their work.
"Artista tayo, e. Binibigyan tayo ng trabaho at mga opportunity na may bago tayong show. Iyon muna ang focus natin. At saka na ‘yan… Everything else can wait."
Asked if she's ready to fall in love again, Carla said only time will tell. She's not too excited to be in a relationship again, and she knows she needs time to heal after her breakup with Geoff Eigenmann.
