Richard Gutierrez Prefers To Be A FreelancerRichard Gutierrez would rather be a freelancer than a contract artist of one network. He is still under contract of GMA Films, but he would rather be a freelancer when it comes to television shows. Richard decided not to renew her contract with GMA-7.
He recently guested on ABS-CBN's "The Buzz." Did ABS-CBN or Star Cinema made an offer for him? Richard said Star Cinema had a project offer for him, but he had to decline it.
"Sa TV, wala akong contract and I prefer it that way. I like that kasi, at least, I get to choose, you know. I get to say no, and I get to choose kung anong projects ang okay."
He's currently taping for a reality show with his family. "It Takes Gutz To Be A Gutierrez" will have a second and third season. It airs on E! channel.
He's currently open to guest on ABS-CBN shows as long as it's a good project. What if ABS-CBN asks him to do the remake of "Captain Barbell" again? Richard said he would have to think about that.
He also did the film "Overtime" with Lauren Young. During the filming for the movie, Richard had inputs into the scenes. He is thankful that the directors are very open-minded and they accepted his suggestions.
"So, ang sarap lang, kasi lahat kami naging creative lang, alam mo yung ganun? Parang sa ikagaganda lang ng pelikula."
"Overtime" was directed by Earl Ignacio and Wincy Ong. When the right project comes, Richard wanted to have the chance to direct his own movie too.
If he will direct a movie, he would like to have a chance to work with Sarah. Asked if he wants to star in his own movie though, Richard is reluctant since it's difficult to star and direct in a project at the same time.
Meanwhile, he also shared the difference between his life before and now that he is a father. It was best thing that happened in his life, and he has no regrets that it is Sarah with whom he has a baby now.
He's thankful for everything that happened regarding Baby Zion because it changed him. It saved him, Richard said, adding that he felt his life has no direction before when he was still single. His life was full of parties and gimmicks.
Now, he still goes out but with Sarah already, and he has a self-imposed curfew. "Pero parang siyempre, alam ko na limitations ko, alam ko na kung anong oras uuwi."
Is he still being attracted by other girls? "Hindi mo naman puwedeng sabihin yun, pero siyempre lahat ng attention ko, na kay Sarah. uwede pa rin namang maging attractive ang isang babae, 'di ba, na wala naman akong gagawin, 'di ba?"
He already learned from experience when it comes to girls, the actor said, adding that it's up to a person to control how he acts around other girls when he is in a committed relationship.
Right now, other girls are far from his mind because he rarely even sees other people since he's usually in the house with Zion.
