Vhong Navarro Happy About Dismissal Of Two Rape Complaints Against HimAlthough there are still challenges ahead, Vhong Navarro is thankful that the two rape complaints filed against him by model Deniece Cornejo have already been dismissed. He also thanked those who supported him through the whole ordeal.
Vhong said he is still pursuing the cases he filed against Deniece, businessman Cedric Lee and the rest of the group who mauled him inside Deniece's condo unit in January this year.
Currently, Cedric and Zimmer Raz, as well as Deniece, are detained in the National Bureau of Investigation's detention cell and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) detention center in Camp Crame.
On the other hand, Deniece slashed her wrist as a sign of protest for the dismissal of her case on July 11. The judge said there was no probable cause for the rape complaint because if she was really raped on January 17, then why would she invite Vhong again on January 22, when she was presumably raped for the second time?
Atty. Salvador Panelo said that Deniece is in a state of depression and sleepless nights. She is still in shock as to why a "victim of sexual abuse" is languishing in jail.
She also decries that powerful people in the media industry are wielding their influence against her. The media, Deniece said, wanted to portray her as the villain rather than the victim.
"The tragic saga of Deniece Cornejo continues even as the purveyors of injustice remain hostage to ignorance and progressive putrefaction."
CIDG Chief Benjamin Magalong said Deniece cut the letters "W" and "R" on her wrist as a sign of protest. Her grandfather, former GMA executive Rod Cornejo, said that the initials stand for "Women's Rights."
Deniece was not taken out of the jail because the slashes are not that deep. She only used an eyebrow trimmer for the cuts.
