GMA Network Says Aljur Abrenica's Complaint Is "Very Unfortunate"

GMA Network released a statement regarding its talent's, Aljur Abrenica's, request to end his contract with them. GMA said it is "very unfortunate" that the actor felt he has to end his contract with the network in order to pursue his artistic freedom.

Aljur's contract with GMA Network will end in 2017.

He filed a Judicial Confirmation of Rescission of Contract at the Quezon City Hall of Justice on July 25. The actor complained that the network has no concrete plans for his career, and that he suffered from their "gross mismanagement."

He also alleged that because of the network's mismanagement, he lost the Bench endorsement deal and was even banned from all SM Supermalls.

He was left to fix these issues by himself. Aljur also does not feel that he is being respected as an artist by the network because he is always made to sing novelty songs with sexual innuendos.

GMA Network received a copy of the complaint on July 28, but they still have to study the reasons cited there. It said that it's an unfortunate decision for Aljur because they already invested a lot on him, and they consider him one of their prime artists.

GMA believes it did not lack in managing Aljur career's under what it calls a "consultative style of management." The network said it only has Aljur's best interest in mind that they accorded him all opportunities to assess the deals being offered to him. The network added that both camps reached mutual agreements in the deals Aljur signed with them.

GMA Network said it did not lack in opening opportunities for Aljur in terms of projects, corporate partnerships and endorsements.

The network also lamented that Aljur is a homegrown talent, and has starred in numerous primetime programs for the network.
